2020 Army/Navy Game top be played at West Point

I think that the upcoming 2021 game at MetLife will be the third one played there and Navy has also plated Notre Dame there. This will be the first of them played in the "New" Metlife Stadium though.

I attended the earlier games at MetLife and at least two in Baltimore in addition to a bunch of times in Philly.

After the game was played in Cali the academies ended up on "The Fleecing of America" for it, so it probably won't happen again. But was epically fun for those who attended, I'm sure! I've been to games in Philly, Baltimore, and NJ. For getting into town for the after celebrations, Baltimore was easiest (on foot), Philly was second (SEPTA), and the Meadowlands was a distant third. Yes, you can get to NYC from the swamps of Jersey, but it takes a little longer. I just love how the fans take over the city for the weekend and meld with each other, no matter who you are rooting for. It's always a good time with lots of camaraderie. Go Army.

Last time this came up for bid, Yankee Stadium, Fenway Park, Gillette Stadium, FedEx Field and M&T Stadium submitted bids. this was for 2018,2019, 2020, and 2022. 2021 was awarded to NY/NJ during a different process

Fenway would be cool, but far to small, but I'd love to see it. Yankee Stadium would probably be a little better, the old Yankee Stadium hosted the game a few times, both of those places has hosted college football in recent years. Gillette would be also be a good choice, little longer drive for the mids, long walk to Boston though....

> While I am sure there were plenty of inquiries and whistleblower claims, it is my recollection that the whole thing was bought and paid for with private funds. Maybe USNAAA paid some costs, but we were told that it was a Community effort.

The efforts to bid and get events like Army Navy suggest that it is very good for the City from a tourism perspective. However, as a practical matter, anything outside of the NYC -DC area creates a logistical mountain for USNA and West Point. The '83 Pasadena airlift was a huuuge undertaking; Orlando would be a little easier just because of distance/flight time and time zones. I've also heard Soldier Field in Chicago mentioned as a possibility someday (I am all for that !), but once you get outside the NYC - DC corridor, you are talking airlift and alot more complexity.

As a former WP resident and season ticket holder, we were reminiscing with old friends and discussing how great it is that the game will be played on post. They brought up a good point: Can you imagine living on post and NOT being able to attend the A/N game? But I guess everyone is used to not attending the games all season long. But A/N is the big one, and I know it would just about kill me! Taking place less than a mile from your quarters.....

Army-Navy games are special where ever they’re played. I had a set of gold West Point cuff links that a cadet and I traded for on the infield at JFK stadium in Philly. Mids were tearing down the wooden goal posts during our exchange. A while ago I gave the links to a person that had accepted an appointment to West Point. I don’t know what Mids do today, but back then one could bet for a West Point bathrobe. There weren’t many takers on West Point’s side the year Navy won, so not many got one. Navy bathrobes were made of wool and were itchy, so I never wore it. When Army finally beat Navy to break their long losing streak, I unpacked my blue bathrobe from a trunk in the garage and sent it to an army friend who was a retired BG. In his Christmas card he thanked me and wrote that his plebe issue b-robe was long gone and that he didn’t miss it because it was too itchy. He’ll probably don the b-robe at some party before the A-N game. I think it is about the only time b-robes come out.

P.S. I also have an Air Force b-robe. It’s in the trunk and is made of wool. I’ll gladly give it up to a West Pointer if Army beats Air Force in the upcoming game.

I have a gold West Point pin on the starboard side of my combination cover. Unfortunately, an unnamed SDO noticed a couple weeks ago at a colors inspection. oops.

I have a West Point Robe. We had a Mid from my company on exchange one year. We set up a trade with his exchange company. I also still have my B Robe.

I agree. Baltimore and Phili are easier post game than Meadowlands. The entire area becomes an Army/Navy party.

> I think I got to bet for the Brobe once...Youngster year, but not enough takers so I didn't get one. Next year I think the bet was reduced to a USMA sweatshirt..I got one, and I probably wore it for 25 years -- it was pretty ratty, arms cut off etc. before I got rid of it !

Well while Army won't have far to run the game football to the stadium; Navy's Marathon Team however...that's going be a much longer trek then usual! I'm sure they're up to it.

Guess how many busses 🚌 it takes to move the Brigade, socially distanced??

My immediate mental image was “how many kisses (synonym “busses”) would this take,” and I found the image delightful.

Deciding I needed further education on “buses” vs “busses,” I found this. Most enlightening.

DW used to buss DS before she put him on the school bus every morning. He’s now applying to USNA, and should he win appointment, I wonder how many busses she’ll give him when we drop him off — not at the bus station, but on the Yard.

Well mine is a fat finger typo that wasn’t autocorrected..BUT ‘ya learn something new every day!!

Well, Maryland is on Gov. Cuomo's 14 day quarantine list. Maybe he'll have the state police stop the busses at the state line on the 287? Likely to invoke the 24 hour "in transit" exception is my guess.

I hope Navy doesn’t get off that easy. Go Army!

King Cuomo doesn't have authority over military matters...only if you want to go to church or visit a relative in a nursing home...then he's after you!! Attending a riot, I mean protest...no worries, you're golden!

I just rolled mine, usna, option #2. When I did that, the prompt stated that seats would be assigned according to normal priorities. And to join xxx for better seats.

I assume if you don’t join, you are in the nosebleeds. Not sure if that’s the same as it woukd Have been this year as a plebe parent? But...it’s a bucket list for us no matter where we sit.

Also, it’s at MetLife Stadium in ‘21 instead of PHL. Wonder why? Isn’t it always in PHL??

20th Anniversary of 9/11, I think.
