2020 Summer Seminar

If one gets into NASS, is he guaranteed a spot in the class next year, i know it has no affect with other academies but is Naval difierent?
Not at all. Doesn't matter if you go or don't go.

ABSOLUTELY NOT.

no it has nothing to do with acceptance

Anyone hear back for session three? I applied the day the portal opened but I still haven’t heard back. I know it’s still early and it doesn’t really matter if I get in from an admissions standpoint but sometimes you can’t help but get a little nervous.

DD will be attending session 3

Does anyone know if there is an admissions portal like the other SAs? I honestly can't remember as they're getting jumbled in this old mom's mind. LOL.

Nope, whether or not you get into NASS has no bearing on acceptance into the academy itself.

Has anyone had experience with children going to Summer STEM? My 9th grader has applied. She's excited about it but I have no idea how those camps work---do they also have to wait for acceptance? She applied the day it opened--Jan 6.
I went as a ninth grader and had a ton of fun while there. I received my acceptance in early April, however it can vary per applicant. I also applied within the first or second day the application opened.

No, not even close. NASS is largely an outreach initiative. Attendees are chosen partly on merit, partly on whether they’re a member of an underrepresented group, whether that be regional, social-economic, etc.

Some would be slam-dunk appointees, some not. USNA will need much more information than the simple NASS application to determine one’s worthiness. Plus there’s the nomination process. Go deep into the USNA website, along with the stickies posted here, to better understand the admissions process.

My daughter attended the first CVW earlier this year. She applied to SS but has not heard back yet. Should we be concerned? Do candidates typically get accepted to both? Now one better than the other? She has excellent scores

I asked about SS when my DD attended February CVW. They did acknowledge they try to spread the visits so could be slim accepted to SS. Not impossible but less chance if attended a CVW.
