2021- One month of CPR left!!!

LOL. Ha, ha. I just posted above 30 minutes ago and son just forwarded me his TWE email. We knew it was coming. Sad it's over. A long application process with many hours, interviews, fitness tests etc to end with a "Dear Applicant, competition was keen blah blah... form letter. Knew it was coming only had a nomination to USAFA. Next year he will know better and only choose to apply to ONE academy.
Oh no. TexasSoccerMom, all the best to you and your DS.

DS still CPR w/ nominations from his Senator and Congressman (received in Dec). Not waiting on any waivers. Academics include 33 on ACT, 4.3 GPA (all IB + AP Calc BC) Extra-curriculars include being a middle school mentor, multiple jobs, leader in Model UN, Pres of Aeronautics Club. 2 Varsity sports- 1 for 4 years , 1 for 2 years, foreign exchange , private pilot certifictate ++. He passed medical and physical (not max, but very respectable scores across the board) But, losing hope. In the fall we (and many others far more knowledgeable than us on SA admissions) felt he was a really good bet for acceptance. This has been his dream since he was a freshman. Are candidates left waiting mostly just those waiting on waivers?

Nope we are in the same boat as you, 3Q with congressional nomination, CPR since November. Just another day in CPR land, hoping that there IS an appointment at the end. Hand in there sister/brother.

Yes! Patience is a virtue.. and my DS has similar stats to yours.. we too thought he was a really good bet for acceptance. Our B&G was very pleased with him and said he was the top candidate.. and now 7 months later we are still CPR and moving on..acceptances to very respectable schools are coming in and some parents look at me incredulously that these are his "safety schools"... So while we are disappointed with the USNA long wait, I am very proud of his accomplishments and civilian schools different take on things..

Very impressive stats -- better than my son, who is now Class of 2020. But keep in mind that the academies also look beyond the stats at some intangible that we can only begin to guess at. I can only assume it shows up in the essays, the letters of recommendation, and the BGO interview -- those personal contact points that might let one candidate demonstrate they have "it," but another candidate not so much.

If you son is still CPR, then he is still in the running. I know the waiting is hard -- my son had dreamed of the Academy since he was 8 years old. But you still have almost 3 weeks left, so don't lose heart.

We're in the same spot with my DD. Not waiting on waiver, just word on the appointment. She sounds similar to your son with IB/AP calc, leadership roles, and nomination from both senators and congressman.

Yep, same with DD as those above. Not waiting on a waiver, just CPR-land for way too long. Those are very impressive stats, hard to tell what goes on in the black box of admissions.

Thank you. Somehow more reassuring to know he's not alone. And we do know that so much more than what is on paper determines selection. And in those intangibles is where we hope Navy sees what we know!

Agree with your comments @WonderGirl1965 about @ktnatalk - so much is in the attitude. Waiting on DD to hear like the rest of you - and like your kids, she's a great kid with awesome credentials. But, she knows that there isn't space for everyone, no matter how good and while USNA is her dream, she went through the NROTC process and received the scholarship and acceptance to her #1 school. She has been keeping her head around the fact that her goal is to be a Naval officer, no matter how she gets there, so months ago she started calling the USNA vs. NROTC paths as "Choice A" and "Choice One" and that both are winners. Good luck to everyone here - hearing about all your wonderful kids makes me have incredible hope and pride in the future of our nation! #keepingpeptobismalinbusiness

Sorry BLUF. GREAT, GREAT plan. When #3 went to VMI, he was impressed that everyone had also applied to USNA.
VMI is a great school.

This forum is so different from the other college admission forums, very heavy on the encouragement of others or their children and very light on the bragging about how special their kid is. I'm following stories here in a way I never do on the U of Michigan or Northwestern boards. To be frank, my DD is probably a couple points lower than many here on whatever scale they keep track of such things since, alth0ugh she ran XC for 4 years, she never ran in the Varsity 7. Her team is extremely fast and has won 2 State titles in her 4 years so, although she ran every day off-season in winter and early in the morning in the summer including optional weights, she never ran in that Varsity category. So, a little more of an uphill battle for her given the class stats. Hopefully getting some of those points back, her XC coach wrote her a powerful LOR that she submitted as an optional one. He said he had coached her for 4 years and loved her work ethic and the fact that she pushed herself and others every day and stepped up as a Senior leader to help mentor the younger ones and show them the ropes and that he gave her the True Grit award since she would frequently run so hard she would puke but then keep on running! :)

They are saying April 15th is the day that everyone will receive their final Admission status for USNA!!! That means only one more month of CPR until you receive an appointment, denial, NAPS, wait list, or foundation! Hold on, best of luck, and God Bless!

Still waiting in Al! CPR still on portal. Has cong nom. What is National Pool? How does that work?

Waiting here in AL too! What district are you? i'm in AL-06 :)

DS received his TWE email today for USNA. Continuing to wait for USMMA and USAFA and at peace if he stays a second year with his AROTC advanced designee full out-of-state tuition scholarship at his current college. He is already gearing up to re-apply. He wants this so badly and his dad and I support him all the way!

If my DS portal changes from CPR to qualified...what does it mean? What is the process? I am new at this...thank you for any info on this.
