2023 Induction day

Yeah as stated above, if you think you allowed enough time, double it! Especially if walking on at Gate 1
It sounded like those that hopped on the Bus at Navy/Marine Corps Stadium had a little easier security check prior to getting on bus and getting dropped off at Alumni Hall. Gate 3 was NOT open.

Last yr We stayed at a place about a 15 min walk from Gate 1. DS report time was 9am we left at 8am, and as stated already, arrived at Gate 1 seeing the line wrap around the building🤢. As the mins passed I felt sick thinking OMG my son's 1st day at USNA and he is going to be late. 🤮Not sure why it took so long... We finally got through at 8:57am and faced the 10-15 minute walk from there to Alumni Hall.

I was freaking out inside, but didn't want DS to see. He stayed calm and when he arrived at Alumni Hall, he was reprimanded by a Marine, not for being late, but for his untucked polo shirt 😅

It seemed that the processing line at Alumni Hall was about 45 mins behind as DW and I could hear the Detailers yelling that anyone in line that is from 8:30am needs to move to the front right away!

Between the walk, the stress, and humidity, I was soaked with sweat 😓😅💦. After DS walked through the Alumni Hall doors I left to reshower and get dressed again.
OMG I am crying

It says ”tentative”, can we count as “for sure”? You Know Capt, plane tickets, hotel…

It’s always a good idea, in general, to book flights and travel accommodations that are ‘refundable’ or ‘changeable. Military changes….all the time.

HOWEVER, for Iday, the dates have always stayed true in the last many years.

The good thing that came from covid, is that *most* airlines are now more change-friendly. If nothing else, the ticket can be banked in an account, for future use. I highly recommend belonging to their frequent flyer programs, booking directly (vs third party), and booking one way tickets. Sot if a change is needed, it doesn’t affect a whole round trip trip. Also, for Iday, if you are paying for your appointees ticket, make theirs a separate reservation for ease of reimbursement.

You will also want to have the same assurances of cancellation for PPW. Which you should also book now, as inventory quickly depletes. You can search on the forums for discussion about PPW.

Also highly recommend joining your Parents Club. They will be a great source of assistance and guidance in matters such as supporting new parents, and will have local tips and tricks out of your area. FL has a very active group. And you wont want to miss summer ‘Welcome Aboard’ events planned for your fellow FL families. Its nice to have a group of local parents to connect with.

If Southwest serves your airport, it may become your favorite airline. (Yes, last holiday fiasco notwithstanding.) Hard to beat SWA’s cancellation policy. Virtually made for the military. Semper Gumby.

If it all follows as normal, which there isn’t any reason to suggest it won’t, it will be Aug 11-13. Suggest arriving on Aug 10th, leaving aug 14th if flying.

They are dismissed to you on Friday after noon meal formation. But you can observe their early morning PT on Friday if you are there. And Parade practice on Thursday. We really enjoyed both of those.
