2023 Navy Uniform vs Army

Wah! Where’s the “glove shot” showing this year’s gloves? Or maybe I missed it. I enjoy these videos immensely. I just started planning game day menu for our Sofa Box Seats in the Big Screen/Surround Sound Suite downstairs. We will be warm - weren’t feeling Foxborough in December.

Cool...but I'm not into this special uniform thing. I'd rather watch both teams in their normal uniform.
I agree. Is this a relatively new practice? It also seems a little wasteful to make new uniforms for everyone which will only be worn once. I guess it generates media buzz.

Much easier to tell the teams apart then it was years ago since the team colors are similar at a distance.

It's been going on for years, and clearly intended to be a marketing tactic. I've always suspected that the cost is picked up by Under Armour or whomever supplies the gear, but on the other hand, the Army Navy game generates a lot of revenue, so maybe NAAA thinks it is worth it.

My issue with it is that the players already have a lot of extra stress ..playing on National TV/ Huge Crowd/a lot riding on the game, and its not necessary to add to the problem by making them look different than what they are used to seeing. Maybe they don't care, or think its cool (especially if they get to keep the Jersey)

It is a special game for the nation. A rivalry where there is no real animosity between the schools or players. Everyone who cares or watches always has a favorite, but at the end of the game. Everybody can come together. That doesn't happen in alot of rivalries. These schools do get a chance for a bowl game, but this is really the biggest game they will get to play in. I'm all for special jerseys for this game. Especially since they seem to honor things, communities, people, etc. rather than just change up the colors just to do it.

And lets be honest.....this is Army and Navy's biggest marketing day. Something the military needs to do well in as recruiting enlisted numbers continue to not meet goals. I can't wait to see what Army comes up with!

This game is filled with symbolism, and rightly so. It’s the academies’ “bowl game” and deserves all the hype it can generate. I love that USMA is honoring WWI heroes. I love that USNA is honoring its silent service. If this is the one Army or Navy game that much of America tunes in for, then let them learn about the glorious history and duty and achievements and sacrifices that others have made on their behalf. If special, one-time-only uniforms help tell that story, so be it.

It boggles my mind when DS and I talk about his brief experiences inside modern day subs. The conditions are challenging but nothing like what my grandfather experienced in WWII.

He was pretty tightly wound, and maybe in hindsight I understand more as to why. I cannot fathom serving in the Silent Service 75 years ago. Baffles me.

Kudos to all who have and do serve in this uniquely challenging service.

And those helmets are freaking awesome.
