2024 Military Classic of the South

Wouldn't it be nice if the has been graduates from The Citadel and VMI would get off this forum and stop debating points that bring no value to the young men and women that are here seeking guidance? Who cares about what the athletes are doing ( I was a D1 athlete at Norwich - did not commission) - night school, online.....My guess is that those students are not visiting this forum for guidance, nor are they seeking a commission. You don't see this kind of banter on the Service Academy pages. Tighten Up!! Go to Facebook for your D*** measuring contests. - Transparency - I went to Norwich - My DS graduated from The Citadel and is now a 2LT/USMC.

That’s a bit over the top, but congrats and thanks to your son for serving and congrats to you for playing D1 sports. Pointing out that one school has 4000 students (half of whom are cadets) while the other school has 1500 cadets playing in a game called the “military classic of the South” is not D—- measuring. It’s a BIG😂 difference between the schools. And while some here may not want to hear it, it may matter to some future students. My DS wanted a 100% military experience so he chose to apply to VMI and the SAs, for example. And to be clear, over 15 members of VMI‘s football team seek to commission in the US Military.

No doubt the schools are completely different, but your numbers are off regarding VMI’s team. Nearly 20 members of VMI’s football team seek to commission Army, and that’s just Army alone… doesn't include Marines, Air Force or Navy.
Definitely different schools.
I was at the game. When the teams took the field, everyone could see one team was a military school… ‘nuff said.

A close friend of mine, her son is on a sports team at Citadel (not football). I actually recently had dinner with him and his room mates. All of them are athletes, not in the Corps, live off campus and take classes online. None are grad students, all are undergrad transfers who came in via the transfer portal. I don’t have a dog in the fight, but I would be curious what the ratio is.
True.
Basketball “military” classic game today.
3 of 5 STARTERS on one team are online students who live downtown…and that’s just the starters.
Is it really a “military classic”?

Regardless, we won the game. So the rivalry lives on! Best to VMI and Citadel Cadets! Spring is coming, but unfortunately not soon enough!

I'm glad VMI won. With a bunch of transfer online students in the roster The Citadel shpuld have mopped you up by 30. The fact is they stink and deserved to lose. Congratulations.
