2024 USMMA Appointment DIY Thread

I received a call from my district congressman that the academy has reserved a seat for me for the class of 2024. It has only been one day so I do not expect to receive a BFE yet, but when will my portal update?

Looks like some more waiting for DS. Ugh! May March will be the month?? On a good note for February, DS did win individual wrestling state title at 152# and team title last weekend.

Are those who so far have been notified of their appointments all sport recruits? Any non-sport-playing candidate appointments yet?

My DS was not a sports recruit and did not have an LOA. Although he did finish the application early and was notified of "Hold" status on 11/21/19 and appointed on 2/12/20.

Wrestling. But he wasn't recruited and didn't have any contacts with the coaches. Not sure if he will continue (college wrestling is a BIG step from HS).

We're from California. You're suggesting that the early appointments are an extra effort to get students from normally under-represented states? That would make sense of it, as does the candidate's early completion of the application. Thanks, and congratulations.

What is an LOA? If your candidate has been notified they need further testing because of recent concussions (sustained during sports) what risk does that pose to passing the medical requirements? I appreciate everyone’s input!

LOA is Letter of Assurance, given to very strong candidates to let them know they will receive an offer of appointment if certain conditions are met, such as passing DoDMERB or receiving a nomination. No one here can know what your candidate's medical status is. All we can know is that the academy is still interested in the candidate or they would not be requesting more information. Just be sure to follow up with any additional medical information or testing ASAP. Good luck!
