Having noted the start of pre-game A-N chatter, analysis, prognostications, uniform debuts, etc., in the Navy football thread in the Navy forum, which was quietly serving as homeport for casual Navy football chat, I launched this thread in international waters, noting the tone and focus of that thread had shifted.

Chat away on best memories, share spirit spots old and new, review game day uniforms, do your analysis and predictions, describe your local plans this year, ask questions, etc., here.

I’ll start with a favorite Rylan Tuohy classic spirit spot. Rylan’s channel on YouTube is filled with well-made videos, including “Naptown Funk.” All of these are mid-created. No fancy funding or tech help, just an incisive wit, tech expertise, group effort, Navy salt and Marine voodoo. He continued to make them during his years in the Fleet.

Every year, I secretly pray no mid or cadet gets injured in a way that threatens their commissioning, and that a phenomenal level of good sportsmanship and mutual respect impresses the nation.

I consider myself unbiased. Although my son went to USNA, I have lived in upstate NY practically my whole life.

Plus I always hope the underdog wins.

I just don’t see the underdog having the requisite tools and grit to overcome the better team.

Navy 24 Army 10.

Navy will be the underdogs by the game rolls around - losing 4 games in a row. USF will put a beat down on them tomorrow along with Memphis the week after. Navy's 4 game losing streak with Army's 4 game win streak will make Army the favorite.

I had to make sure this comparison is on this thread too.

This game often makes all statistically-derived critical thinking-based predictions fly out the window.

It’s who wants to win more that day. Because it’s the game that matters most. Forget the CINC trophy. It’s this one game. Every year.

Good read > book by John Feinstein on the rivalry:

Predicting a score for the annual Army–Navy Game is always a fun exercise — the rivalry between the Army Black Knights and the Navy Midshipmen is historic, tough-fought and full of tradition. Army West Point+3Wikipedia+3Winsipedia+3

Here’s my prediction for the game on December 13, 2025:

Final score prediction: Navy 27, Army 20

Why I lean that way:
  • Historically Navy has a slight edge in this rivalry (Navy leads the series 63-55-7 through 2024). Naval Academy Athletics+1
  • The game tends to be lower-to-moderate scoring given the service academy constraints (players, schemes, etc).
  • But I expect Army to keep it close and make a strong push (hence 20 points on their side).
  • Navy scoring 27 reflects their slight advantage and possibly better execution in the big moment

From Grok:

AP

West Point, N.Y. – Nov 11, 2025

Army football brass are privately “terrified” of losing to Navy next month, fearing a 2026 bicentennial-year embarrassment, a whistleblower told The Associated Press.

The source, a senior staffer granted anonymity, described team morale as “bleak” after three straight wins. “They’re obsessing over the 250th anniversary optics,” the source said.

Online, anonymous bot accounts flood pro-Army hashtags, pushing win-now narratives, per cybersecurity firm ShadowDragon.

Army officials declined comment. Navy had no response.

Very good research. Time for Army to catch up and even things up. Is Horvath on the mend? Army has finally determined who their QB1 is.

I gotta throw in the prediction Chat GPT gave me ...:

My Refined Prediction (with metrics in mind)

  • Winner: Army Black Knights, narrowly
  • Estimated Score: Army 21, Navy 20
  • Why: My model says: Navy is slightly favored given the metrics, but Army gets the edge because I trust their defense to hold, and in rivalry games the intangible (pride, discipline, margin of error) matters.
  • Key game factors:
    • If Navy rushes for 250+ yards, they probably win.
    • If Army limits Navy to <200 rushing yards and forces 3+ third‐down stops, Army wins.
    • Turnovers/special teams could swing it heavily.

Go Army ...

This respectful guidance is cool by me.
I found a Navy Spirit Video from "Bollywood" (Bombay or New Delhi) that is hilarious 😆 but failed our new guidance... I'm just saying.
