Are nominations usually harder than the appointment itself? I got nominated by my Senator and they said I was one of 10 who got the nomination out of 204 who they interviewed. 10 out of 204 is lower than WP acceptance rate which is around 10%.

Well, not really. If you have a nomination from MOC and/or any other type of nomination, it gets you a step closer to appointment. Technically, all those 204 people began their interest in the service academies. Nominations are just part of the admissions process. It's going to be the pitfall for many and just because you have a nomination doesn't mean you have a guaranteed appointment.

I wouldn’t say so since the appointment incorporates the nomination process. Moreover, you’re not just competing with people in your state for an appointment, your competing with candidates all over the nation. I agree however that nomination selection is significantly harder in different areas. I was recently nominated by my senator and he had over 600 applicants. I doubt the road is going to get any easier from here. All we can do make the best application package and cross our fingers. Good luck!

Still nothing from Toomey or Casey but DS got three noms from Lamb (PA-17)
Congratulations to DS on 3 nominations! Which academy did he request a nomination for? DS received a nomination for USAFA from Toomey by email (and it shows up in the portal). I think Casey is going to publish nominations in the upcoming week or so.

Thanks and congrats to your DS too! Noms were to USMA, USNA and USMMA.

Has anybody heard from Lindsey Graham in SC? I recieved notification that I would be offered an interview and the email said they would be in contact over the next two weeks. That was sent on 4 December 2020 and I have yet to hear back from him to schedule my interview. Anybody else having this happen?
We are in the same boat. My DS received the same notification 12/2 and then nothing since then. Have you heard anything since you posted this?

Yes my FFR got back to me on Saturday 9 January 2021. Paul Howell, the person in charge of the service acdemies for Lindsey Graham, wife just had her baby. My FFR said that they will schedule them quickly and they will still have the interviews in time.

I received a letter from my senator saying I am a "competitive alternate nominee." Anyone know exactly what this means?
Thank you in advance!

Sounds like they used the principal method and you received a nomination that places you somewhere between 2 and 10.
