I saw that our Congressman released a press release that he had nominated 30 candidates across the 4 SA. I did not know that was even possible. Still learning.
Elected officials can submit slates of up to 10 names for each vacancy they have to fill at an SA. They may have 5 appointees at each SA spread across 4 classes, therefore typically 1 slot a year comes open as the last class graduates. Occasionally, there might be 2, given there are 5 total, or attrition may have created another slot. Multiplying even the minimum opportunities by 10 names gets you past 30.

Playing with numbers here. . .
I'm not sure if USMMA also has the "5 appointees" standard so I'll go with 4 (1 per year) for them and then add the 5 for USNA, USMA and USAFA to get to 19 total slots across the 4 classes which translates to 190 total nominations across the four classes. This yields an average of 47.5 possible nominations per year.

PS: I'm not very tall so maybe I personally got a "half nomination"

Ack - I always forget USMMA has a unique allocation system by state, not the straight 5 appointments of the DoD service academies. Thank you for reminding me.

See the link below, start reading on p.7. There is a table.

Bottom line, though, it’s absolutely clear, nominations for an individual elected official across the 4 SAs that use noms can exceed 30.

I finally heard back from the last nom source that had responded the latest. Received a letter from Senator Kennedy stating that I did not get a nomination from him but wanted to congratulate me for getting noms from another source. So now that concludes my little saga in the nomination process. I have gotten 2 out of the 3 sources that I applied to (Representative Scalise and Senator Cassidy being the ones I got them from). Would like to hear any other fellow Louisianians, what sources yall got yours from. Cheers!
I am from Louisiana as well. Received nomination in your congressional district. To what academies did you apply?

I only applied to the Merchant Marine Academy because that's the one I know that in my heart I want to go to (as well as the fact that I had almost gotten into there the first time I applied kept me motivated to keep trying). Which ones did you apply to?

I applied to USNA. I am glad to hear you have kept trying following your first attempt. I remember meeting a couple guys applying to USMMA during nomination interviews. Was your interview date Dec 9?

Seeing a lot of questions about Ga Senators. I got a nom from Ossoff for USNA and his office held interviews in January on the weekend of the 15th
I read in one of your postings that you received a nomination from Senator Ossof and your congressman. Sen Ossof's staff member told my DS that since he already had a congressional nomination, the senator did not want to duplicate a nomination. It sounds like what was told to my DS was untrue, or a way to make him feel better. In your experience, do the senators and congressmen in Georgia duplicate nominations only for special circumstances? In the past years when you applied, did you also receive multiple nominations?

The cooperation between a MOC and Senator can vary, even within one state. I know in our state some MOCS cooperate and others didn't. And the rules can also change in a single application cycle. Maybe a mistake was made and someone spoke incorrectly, or maybe circumstances changed and therefore the policy changed. There are infinite number of variables. This topic is covered frequently in this forum and the feedback seems to be consistent from those familiar with the process. Congratulations to your DS on his nomination. He should feel really good about their nomination....it only takes one! I know you were asking specifically about Georgia but commenting here in case it's helpful. Good luck to your DS!

I forgot to ask, but besides Rep. Scalise who are the other MOCs that you applied to and did you apply to both Senators?

My DS received a nomination from Spanberger (VA-07) before Christmas and a TWE from Senator Warner but nothing from Kaine. We assume a rejection as well but nothing yet. Senator Kaine's application was intense.....it would be in very poor taste if his office does not notify applicants of their standing one way or the other.
my twins received TWE from Kaine. He said he doesn't give nominations to applicants who've already received one from Congressional district.

Just called Congressman Suozzi's office. They have a list of USNA noms but just didn't send out the letters yet. I was told this year was a very competitive pool of candidates to choose from. If you call I am sure you can find out earlier than waiting for your portal to update or letter.

I called and unfortunately wasn't offered a nomination from his office. I also applied to Senator Schumer & Gillibrand as well as for the VP nom with no word back from any of them. I think I've seen people getting noms from NY senators already so it seems very unlikely for me especially since I couldn't compete within my own district. Seems like I will not be receiving a nomination this year but I am still hopeful for something like an appointment to NAPS or prep; even if it is unlikely.

The lady from Suozzi's office was helpful, she told me how my application was lacking grades wise compared to other candidates, with a 90 GPA & 1210 SAT. My coarse load was good with AP's and Honors just a lower GPA and a SAT that I need to improve for next year. I defiantly recommend calling not just to find out if you got the nomination but to find out what to improve if you didn't get a nomination from his office. Sounds like a lot of good applicants out there and most applicants that received noms from Suozzi's office had GPA's in the 98+ range I was told. I asked what I could improve on for next year and told her that I will defiantly be back next year as an improved applicant with emphasis on my grades / SAT.

Disappointing news but I still got years to develop and reapply. Time to start investing more time into researching into my backup plans. Good luck to all and congrats to anyone who received noms.

My son was at Congressman Suozzi's interviews this past weekend. The message was basically this year he is seeing an all-time low in applications. What a difference a year makes.

Our congressman’s office indicated they received half the usual number of applicants. Good for the kids, bad for the military.

Wow! Did they give a number?
So they did, it was a staffer making conversation with parents in a waiting area, not would I would call an official brief.... they said a total of 40 students total applied for noms. Mind you this is a pretty densely populated area in close proximity (relatively speaking) to 3 of 4 SAs that require a nom.
