I have not received any notice directly from a senator but a nomination with code FL61 appeared this week in my USMA portal.
I believe that is your senior Senator. Did you receive a congratulatory letter?

Is there a breakdown of how many nominees are currently attending an academy by senator or congressperson e.g. Ted Cruz - 3 at USAFA, 4 at USNA and 3 at USMA?

You could search in the Nominations forum as I'm sure this question has been asked before - it would be a very popular piece of information! Even if someone tried to figure it out the information just isn't available - lots of times applicants don't even know where their appointment was charged.

You could do some sleuthing. Look for the press release on the slate. Google/stalk social media for the slate nominees to see where they are in school. If they are at an SA, assume some percentage of them may also have had a Presidential nom, JROTC nom or other flavor nom, or may be a qualified alternate off that slate chosen by the SA, and you will not know where the actual appointment is charged.

Assume 5, allow a small attrition percentage for separation of some kind.

Bottom line? The SWAG is between 0-5, probably 4-5. 🤣

Only your MOCs matter to you correct ? If that’s the case simply ask them. We asked our MOCs office and they were happy to tell us.

We are in TX and the senators did not tell us that info. However, our representative sent the candidates that info in an email. DS was very glad to have it!

Thanks, it was a general interest question as I read something about some MOCs not using all of their nominations and some other legislator what those unused noms to be reallocated.

Sorry…clearer version
Did you get a letter or email yet? Nothing here. (My son assumes his nom. was from Sen. Durbin but only because of the news of his office’s emailed rejections, and we’ve not heard of anything coming out of Sen. Duckworth’s office yet…)

Does USMA or USNA ever reach out to the MOCs about potential candidates to try to help secure nominations for applicants? I've heard that our MOC (Barbara Lee, D-CA) doesn't nominate her max, and California Senator nominations are pretty competitive. I'm trying to manage my DS's expectations. He has an LOE and seems competitive, but the nomination thing is nerve wracking. He has a 4-yr AROTC scholarship as a backup, but wants the academies. Thanks for any insight.

It is safe to say SA Admissions Departments often work closely with staffers at elected officials’ offices. As those elected officials are free to conduct their nomination process any way they choose, including not nominating any candidates at all, the depth and influence of those relationships will vary widely. Interactions could cover the spectrum.

Hope for the best in terms of a nom(s) from any or all of the elected officials. He should have applied for the VP nom, always a long shot but those go to applicants every year. Your DS should read the sticky note posted at the top of the Nominations Forum, if he hasn’t already, to refresh on various nom sources.

If a SA really, really wants him in the class this coming year, and he does not have a nom, they might consider him for one of the discretionary noms they manage.

AROTC is a superb alternate plan, moves him toward the primary goal of a commission while getting his degree. If the flame still burns bright for USMA, he can re-apply and would also be eligible for a ROTC nomination. Every year, there are college and prep school re-applicants, who bring maturity and demonstrated perseverance to their application.

Good luck!

For all the principal/ranked USAFA nominees here- without the office telling you is there a way on the portal to see? The office that nominated me just sent it to USAFA, I haven’t actually received any mail/info from them.

Just curious :)

Any Arizona news?
Read earlier that someone got a nom from their local rep, but no news from the senators yet. According to last year's thread, they should be coming out sometime this week though. Best of luck to you!

I do not believe there is a way to see this, you would have to email either the nominating source or the Academy to confirm what kind it is. My principal nomination this year appears the same in my portal as my 2nd ranked nomination last year. Good luck!
