MOCs all run their own nom processes and select their slates separately. They may coordinate — for example, not duplicating noms. But being rejected by one MOC doesn’t mean it’s a blanket rejection from all of your MOCs. Until and unless you hear “no” from every MOC you applied to, you’re in the running.

Well to be honest I can’t disagree with your teacher. We all learn more from the speed bumps then the carpool lane.
I don’t know or recall your story or path, but it goes without saying that if you want this, every action and plan has to move your forward on the path to your objective. And that includes having time padded in for unknowns.

If you didn’t complete your app, maybe it means you were not sure. Maybe you weren’t all in as you mentioned you hadn’t been training for the CFA.

If this lesson is one that speaks to you, set up a better game plan for the next cycle. Sometimes setbacks reaffirm our desire and make us hungrier.
Yea it's a really good lesson for me. I should've kept on with the application but I did have some apprehension on completing sine I didn't know if I wanted to go. Now I don't want my nomination to go to waste. That's what pushing me to ask for an extension.

I have to be honest. Not all who pursue this are sure. Not all who accept make it through or decide this is the path for them.
Make sure you want this life and the challenges and risks and opportunities. Don’t just respond to the challenge of fighting a rejection or turn down.

If this is what you want, in my experience you will move Heaven and Earth to achieve that goal. And if at the end, the Universe has another plan for you, there are many paths to commissioning as an officer. All of those paths lead to the opportunity to be a great leader who looks out for their soldiers, sailors, airmen and guardsmen. At the end of the day it sounds like that is what you want, but aren’t sure how to achieve it. Use this time to be reflective and pinpoint what you can see in your future for you.

Thank you for the Advice!

The nomination will not go to waste. There are 9 other candidates on their slate. You do not need to ask for an extension in order to save their nomination. A nom is not an appointment. The SA will be able to appoint to anyone on the slate (assuming 3q).

Be prepared to present a good reason for asking, if you choose to do that. I’m of the opinion everyone knows the deadline, and rules.

Thanks. It was disappointing to get (rejection) email from Senator whom we never had any contact with other than completing the app. So, from your experience there is still a chance the other Senator or Congressional district rep (the one my son had a. Interview with) could still give him a nomination? Thanks.

MOCs are free to handle things as they see fit. Some don’t interview. But again, only a firm “no” puts you out of the game. The deadline to submit slates is 1/31.

I emailed them and the said no, which is understandable. I should've done it sooner, but lesson learned.

MN-03 anyone? Haven't heard a word from the senators or my house rep so starting to get worried. Nothing in portal either
Daughter just found a nomination from MN-03 and nominations from both senators in portal for USAFA. Looks like the MN nominations have been or are in the process of being submitted. She did not receive any type of communication from any office regarding the nominations. Just showed up in the portal. Good luck to everyone else in MN.

same thing here. Sen and district noms are now reflected in my portal. I believe they send out something in early February congratulating their nominees but I am not really sure. Congrats!

so senators in MN have sent out all of their noms already?

This does not mean that all of the noms for senators in MN have come out. My individual USAFA nom is reflected in my portal but that does not mean that someone else who may have also received a nomination from the same senator has their respective nom reflected in their portal. There is no way to know if they have all come out or not but don't lose hope until they confirm your status. For some senators, the different SA's respective nominations come out at separate times as well. EX: USAFA on one day and USMA on another. The MN MOC's have said that they would email stating if you received a nom or not and those usually come out in early February. Hope this helps!

No it didn’t show up as 1
I believe the codes are different depending on SA. In USMA portal, Feinstein showed up as CA-62. Rep showed up as CA-<district#>

In USAFA, the nom is spelled out as in "California - <name> District Nomination received." DS didn’t get Senatorial nom for USAFA, only for USMA.

Also as per Feinstein's congratulatory email, her office does nominate a Principal. The email will mention if that was you or not. DS was one of unranked nominees.

I was responding to a question from the same SA as to my sons, so I knew Feinstein wasn’t at 1 because he got one from her and it wasn’t a 1.
