Depends on the state. For CA, the senior Senator Feinstein is 62, and the appointed Senator Padilla is 61 (replacing VP Harris who was the junior Senator to begin with). I like to think that because both Senators Feinstein and Boxer were in office for so long and together that the system never bothered to switch the numbers over when Senator Boxer retired.

My DD has not heard from Smith, didn't apply with Klobuchar.
No way to know until physical notifications go out. The 31st has passed so they are passed the due date for submission but things can happen. Again, no way to be 100% sure until notifications.
My daughter's nomination from Klobuchar to USAFA showed up in her portal Wednesday the 26th and nominations from Smith and our representative to USAFA showed up in her portal Friday the 28th. She still has not received any notification in the mail from either senator but did receive a letter in the mail from our rep. Do not have any idea regarding USMA or USNA.
Both Ossoff and Warnock are new senators with this being their first year to award noms, so I think that is playing a big part in the lack of communication. Received a nom from one of the senators but no letter, email, etc. to know who the nom is from. it just showed up in the portal on 1/20.

My son received an email today from Senator Cardin, notifying him about the nomination. Around 4 pm. The email said that the review boards interviewed more than 425 applicants for the 10 nomination slots available per academy.
