2027 State Nominations Thread

Every elected official can manage their process as they wish. If your son wants to know, he can ask the staffers to confirm his situation.
I think it’s nice to let people know where they stand, but not everyone does notifications.
I emailed his staffer and waiting for the reply and tried also calling the number but no one answered. He has already an SDVET nomination on his portal for USMA. I hope this will get him into WP.

I assume he was not selected for an interview. Should he receive updates through email that was not invited for the interview?
I am not certain. I would contact Chad Tilley in Senator Burr's office. It often takes him several days to reply and with the holiday it might be longer.

DS interviewed with Burr on 11/5 and received word a week ago that he was not selected.
He shared that the Tillis interview last weekend was 15 minutes and they really stuck to the clock (following up with the other question).
He has an interview with our Congresswoman NC-12 in 2 weeks to complete the trifecta. Best of luck to you all!

I had a senator nomination pop up on my portal on Friday, but today got a National Wait List letter on my portal. Does that mean I didn't get that senator's spot - already?

Which SA?

I think USMA is the SA that sends that particular communication. I think once a candidate has everything in, has been found fully qualified and has a nom, off they go to the NWL. Slates from elected officials will be resolved as all the applicants finalize their inputs - some time left for that.

Now it’s just…wait some more, possibly into April.

The Sorting Hat kicks into high gear once all applications are in, all slates are in, first semester grades are in for college applicants, then prep grades. Go look at the Appointment threads for past classes. You’ll see the rhythm.

Did anyone here apply for a nomination from Senator Burr of North Carolina? My DS had not heard any updates since June, when he submitted his application.
His office contacted those who received a nomination on 11/18 and denials on 11/19.

It was USMA. Good to know. Thank you. Patiently waiting and plans B, C, D in gear.

I also had an interview for Senator Toomey on 10/27. I'm a little bit confused about how the panel decides who to nominate. How many different interviewers are there? For example, in the email I received saying I was selected for an interview, maybe only about 13 other applicants were also sent the same email. Is this because my group was assigned to one specific interviewer?
I can only speak to his experience, which was that he interviewed with two individuals. I don’t know if there were concurrent interviews happening in other rooms. Capt MJ answered your other Q about the nomination, which is also true in Senator Toomey‘s case – he will use whatever process he thinks is appropriate and we don’t know what that is.

I recall my son was told that nominees will hear right around the holidays.

Good luck to you!!

My son received a nomination in his portal to USMMA. He hasn't received any communication from either of the MOC offices he has interviewed with so far. He asked USMMA who the nominating source was and they wouldn't tell him. 😂
Can you clarify where this might show up in the portal? My son is applying for USNA and USAFA but we don't see any place in the portal where a congressional nomination would show up. Btw, great screenname 😉.

Not sure about USAFA as my DS won't finish his essays and get his application complete to see the next steps. But there is a spot in the USNA for Nominations, in the "my progress tab", right before the CFA box.

Yes, there is a “Nominations” section in each academy’s portal it is usually in an “application overview” section or something similar. This will be where you will see nominations appear. Every MOC has a different way of selection, notification, and uploading results to portals. Do not try to read anything into your area because somebody else (in another area of the country - or even same state -says they heard something, or received notice, or even saw something appear in their portal…) My son (now at USMA) hung on every word in SA Forums to gleam some advance notice or read into the tea leaves whether he got a nomination for other areas. It caused him a lot of stress because his MOC was new and much later in notification of nominees. But, it did work out and he got his appointment (multiple) and all he was able to figure out is how hard it is to get a read on nomination status until you see it in your portal or get a call ‘ letter from you MOC. The wait is tough but don’t count yourself in or out based upon anyone else’s circumstances. With 535 MOC, and congress cycling every two years there are lots of new faces and every member has their own way of selection and notification of nominees.

Also, for you that are looking towards USMMA, please remember that because nominees can be from any MOC in the state - the “winners” of the slates are state winners and there are specific numbers of “winners” in each state, besides the NWL nominees.

Ga-03, I have heard back from my congressman. I got an interview with Warnock's office but I still have not heard back from Ossoff's office.
My daughter had an interview with GA-09 and also heard from Warnock yesterday. Interview is on a Saturday at Kennesaw State.
Nothing from Ossoff yet.

I'm thinking there's a chance she'll have a decision from the Congressman before the Senator interviews even happen.

Last year I got a nomination from Ossoff and they didn’t give me an interview until January, they’re probably late again this year.

Very similar experience for DD with USNA. "Source: Florida Senator 2 2022-11-17"" popped up in her Nomination section of USNA portal. She found out that is Senator Marco Rubio. No further email, call, or snail mail has been received. Congratulations to both tremendous
DS logged into USAFA portal yesterday to check if his AOL interview had been updated and was surprised to see he had received a nomination! It indicates FLORIDA Senator 82. We just are wondering if that is Scott or Rubio? DS actually had his interview with Congresswoman’s panel yesterday morning and we were thinking that this is where his nomination would most likely come from. Both Scott and Rubio communicated that nominations wouldn’t be announced until later, Dec/Jan. DS has not gotten a call, email or letter yet acknowledging nomination. Very excited for DS, he had received a LOI a few weeks ago.
Official letter came from Senator Rubio

Congratulations!

Thought everyone would enjoy seeing this bit of history...

DD's BGO shared with her how he was notified of his MOC's Nomination back in the 'post-smoke signal' ages.
