2nd LT on way out over TikTok post

I just spoke to my social media team and he said to get off SAF because there's lots of work to do before Friday.
I don’t actually post anything myself. My social-media staff does it for me. In fact, I didn’t even know they posted this. I was too busy looking up what Tic Tac is. Apparently it’s a brand of mints. 😮

There is a TikTok recently posted where a sergeant in the army in uniform is calling out his peers in the marines to fight because the marines aren’t tough.

It appeared to me to be unprofessional and took the rivalry of the branches too far. Not sure what they think when they do this.

well if people haven't figured out by now what is acceptable in social media they are too stupid to be in the military, I am betting the CMSAF had a come to Jesus meeting with the COS and SECAF.

As a Jew, I would like to give a little bit of advice to now jews. Don't make jokes about the Holocaust. Don't make comments about how something is similar to the Holocaust unless more than 1000 are people are getting killed. Even if the comparison's legit, you are going to lose. Even if its funny and doesn't make fun of those who died, you are going to lose. Even if you are making a political point like that actress from the Star Wars TV show which I thought was perfectly fine, you are going to lose. Most of the backlash isn't going to come from Jewish organizations (although they do will respond), but rather from those who are perpetually upset over anyone saying anything about another group. Not sure what posses people to use the Holocaust in causes that has nothing to do with the Holocaust. I am not even saying i agree, but this is what happens when people bring it up. It's not that you don't have the right to talk about it, all I am saying is the consequences way outweigh the benefits and yet it happens very often.

Agree with @Humey
However, whenever the Holocaust is mentioned, the statistic of 6 Million Jews exterminated comes up; & understandably so. What's almost never mentioned is the 12 Million 'others', give or take, that were also killed, starved to death, worked to death, exterminated, etc.; they're rarely mentioned, & that's an understatement. One could say their lives didn't count twice.

There's a reason we tell people applying to ROTC, SAs, and Jobs to clean up their social media. And to create new media is just dumb.

It boggles my mind that 1, he posted the heinous joke/remark, and 2, that he continues to post on Tik Tok daily, often in uniform. Common sense isn't common anymore, and he appears to not exercise it at all.

What's Tik Tokyo? Is it like snapgram?

That's how an old colonel does social media....and NEVER becomes the center of his own drama....

i think the reasons the others arent mentioned as often, as the other groups were not targeted as a group except for the Roma (Gypsies) and Gays. If you read the list on that link, many were casualties of wars (and i don't mean they were soldiers or in the middle of a crossfire) and while the numbers are huge, they don't represent a huge percentage of their populations. Germans killed millions of Russians (with the Russians returning the favor later in the war) but it still only represented a small percentage of the Soviet population. In terms of Jews being killed, Jewish population prior to the war was around 9.5 million while the population after the war was 3.5. That means 63% of the Jewish population was killed. That percentage is what is outstanding about the killings. I just read up about the killing of the Roma. Anywhere from 25% to 50% were killed and some claim that it is closer to 75%. The problem with the Roma and the lack of compassion for their plight is as much as people had an issue with Jews, they hated Gypsies even more. I think they have a bad reputation in Europe.

We Jews are very aware of others who perished. The Holocaust Museums in D.C. and Jerusalem give their stories as well. And in DC there is a section for other genocides including Armenia and Rwanda. But this holocaust was far from the first for us. Consider the Inquisition and the Russian Pogroms. Blame for the black death in Europe. I won't go on but we know the history well. 13 cultures have tried to exterminate over a few thousand years. We are still here and will do what it takes to stay. So don't tell me the others are never mentioned. Maybe not by others, but they are by us.

I was responding to your previous post; 'They,' indeed are mentioned by others; 'They' however, were not mentioned by you, so I thought I should bring 'them' up. So as 'they're' not forgotten.

As a United States citizen, I'd like to give a bit of advice. Don't make jokes about the United States of America.

The enemy is anyone that will get you killed, no matter what side they're on. The enemy is turning our military into dysfunctional mess.

According to my social media investigation, a "Tic Tac" seems to be something an Navy F-18 pilot chases at high speeds. I guess they're not allowed to chase MIGs or skirts any longer. And come to think of it......they may not like what's under that skirt in 2021.
