ok so for those of you who didn't receive an appointment last year and reapplied this year..what did you during that year? How did you go about making your application better? And what's the acceptance rate usually for 2nd time applicants?

As of right now I'm planning on going to ASU and doing the AFROTC hoping that if I can get a good gpa and do well in ROTC it will look good when I reapply for class of 2014.

Thanks in advance
James

I did everything I could to make my application better. In fact, I got all of it done before i left for college in the fall since I knew i wouldn't time to work on it. First step was to call my admissions counselor and find out where i was weak the previous year and she told me it was my CFA scores and SAT scores. So last summer I did a lot of weight training and running and improved my numbers. I also took the ACT and the SAT again. When I got to college in the fall i enrolled in AFROTC and got an additional nom from them. I was also able to get a captain at my detachment to write me a recommendation letter. Make sure you get some recommendations letters! Take a good courseload of classes similar to the academy's ; I took chemistry, calculus, chinese, english, and my air force classes. I also got involved in a philanthropy organization on campus for community service. February I got my appt.
Basically, just keep doing what you did in high school and do the best you can at everything. Good luck!

Congrats!!! You give hope to all still trying to achieve the dream!! Hopefully my son will join you next year! God bless you. As I have told everyone I know, I am sad for my son not getting in this year, but begrudge no one that did get the appointment they received. It is obvious to me that the best of the best are chosen. I am so proud of you all and thankful that young people like yourself are willing to dedicate and sacrifice for our country. I have no doubts that is why we have the most awesome armed forces in the world!
