3 year vs 4 year offer

Army APFT has an extended scale for unofficial purposes, to help acknowledge "super fit" soldiers. "Official" scores do max at 300.

For example, this enlisted soldier acheived an extended scale 402 with 132 pushups, 114 situps, and an 11 minute, 53 second 2 mile run.

Here is an extended scale calculator.. (calculates both scales)

A lotta room to improve on that run time.

I have no idea what the record extended score is... Anyone know?

My DS knows his run is in need of improvement and was advised by AUM that he needs to be running an hour a day. This is going to help build stamina as well as build the muscles needed to get into passing range. he does his runs at about 10 min mile pace so is not hurting himself but is working on a steady maintainable level that then can lead to alternating days 6miles/10min miles , 2 miles in under 15mins and sprints all which require the use of both stamina and muscles. He is lucky that he doesn't have to be at school till 4th period so even though we live an hour from his school (drawback to living in the Keys only 3 high schools cover 130 miles of islands.) If you want to show up ready and showing you are willing to do the work to be successful don't wait even till summer to start prepping for the APFT. Run an hour or even half an hour a day at 10 min mile pace as you build your stamina add in days where do a warm up mile then do sprints or test your APFT status push-up / sit ups and 2 mile run then still do a mile but as a cool down 10 min mile. There is now a program through Beach Body you can have access to all of the programs they sell (A few are only limited parts since they are the most current) There are several that can help P 90X 1 - 3 are part of it. https://www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_programs/on-demand-workout-videos.do DS is using Body Beast for the core and arms work outs in addition to doing sit-ups and push ups. It is cheaper than buying the videos. And if it helps give them options on workouts that keep them going and can even give a cardio work out option for bad weather.

in Googleing found "The currently accepted Army wide APFT record is 402 points. 132 push-ups, 114 situps, and 11:53 2 mile run.
looks like that is from the BCT press release

I imagine if he ran first his time would be faster. but after 132 PU and 114 SU that seems like a good time.

I though the max on APFT was 300??

Gokings explained the extended scale very well.

For the OML calculated by Cadet Command any score 300 or above receives the same number of OML points.

The extended scale score comes into play more within the individual battalions. Some will use the scale in their own OML, it can count when selecting cadets for certain schools. Of course a super high APFT score in itself won't keep a cadet at the top of the battalion OML, but it's a nice start when they are just starting the program.

Navy time is based on distance to chow hall.

Air Force time is based on the distance from the Tee to the Green.

Coast Guard time is based on the distance from the ship to the shore, slower due to the fact your wading in knee deep water. (I was in the CG, it's harder then you think)

Marine time is based on how many sailors they jump over on the way to the chow line.

At my DS' school he wears the blue pt belt for a 343 pt test. Not sure what advantage that earns him, but that's what maxing out will get you there. DS actually said it might be a negative, as if he scores less then 300 it would be seen as him "slacking".

That 402 APFT score is old. Many have exceeded that since. A cadet at LDAC in 2014 scored a 421, and I'm not even sure that's the highest.
