39 Days left until Dec 15th

We'll be here for you Julie!

That is so funny to here you call JCollins, Julie. I read that, and I was like, "Who's Julie?" before reading the quote. I am always referring to ya'll (Objee, Luigi, Shellz, JCollins, and many others) like you're everyday friends I just had lunch with or something. He truly thinks I have gone off the deep end :yllol:

30 Days to go from here gang, and I did 10,400 steps yesterday.

lol....I totally get it. My family not only thinks I am nuts...they know, on a cellular level, that I truly AM nuts!

Funny story...Julie was down in my area for a convention and we had dinner together. The waiter did not believe us when we said we had just officially "met" 10 minutes prior. When you go through something like we all have gone through (or are currently going through) you become family really quickly!

Welcome to the clan Officer! Maybe when your kiddo gets the appt. we'll meet up at CGA someday!

Still hanging in there with you...we'll make it through, I promise. :thumb:

Great to hear from you Shellz and B1,

Shellz, I was just reading over some of your and JCollins old posts this morning. I always go to this time last year for support and encouragement--Thank you for great posts.

:

The waiting game.... ugh... I laugh at some of those old posts... and the fact the addiction to this site during that time was incredible! We will be back at the waiting game come March .. waiting for her Appt again!

PS my CGA Scholar will be home Saturday for 1 week from Prep School :) I am soooo excited..

Oh and I passed my CG Auxuliary test last night, so next week her and I are heading to the CGX so she can help me buy my Trops! :) how cool is that? :)

Congratulation on your CG Auxilary CG test. That is so cool. I keep telling my son that I want to get involved with the auxilary and possibly doing the interviews, but I really haven't researched how to do it yet. I showed him your picture and said, "Look, you might be at the academy with this fellow cadet." If we get some good news in a few weeks, I will definitely be asking your advice about the auxilary.

Enjoy the time with your daughter  -officer

Just wanted to take a break from the hundreds of EA files blanketing my desk/office to say congratulations and welcome to the Long Blue Line!

Check out the USCGA Admissions Partner Program ! In that volunteer program you get to SELL the USCGA at college fairs (I worked three in the last two months). It was a lot of fun! I also have the ability to interview, but one of the locals that needed that needed it when I was out of town, so I was able to refer them to another to GET IT DONE :). We parents learn alot during the application/research time, How can we let all that knowledge go to WASTE? I could not, and I am not.. If I help one Cadet on the path then it is all worth it!!

(here is the link for the USCGA-AP program)

The USCG Auxiliary seemed the perfect choice for filling my need of additional volunteering.. No longer doing Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts, so I needed another program, the Auxiliary will fit in perfect and I still get to stay connected to my daughter, she too thinks it is awesome and she is excited to help me get my uniforms.

Oh and she is loving the idea that as an Auxiliary member I will have to salute her as a CG officer.. HA HA HA HA .. I told her we'll discuss that in 4 1/2 years :)

Thank you Sir!!!
Just completed all four of my required FEMA ICS courses.. ugh.. now I have to do the boating course.

Have fun with those Applications!

I hope to see you in June for R Day!

J Collins regarding USCGA do you think it would be beneficial for a Junior who wishes to go to the CGA to volunteer with this organization? My DS has been in Civil Air Patrol since he has been 12 and already has the required ICS Courses completed or do you think he should just devote the extra time if any to making C/Col in CAP?

The Auxiliary has a requirement of 17yrs of age..

I can't say if it will help get attention while applying at the Academy, but it will definately be beneficial for the volunteering aspect of it. :)

Yes he did turn 17 on the 30 of Oct., we were just trying to figure if it would give him a leg up or just keep pushing in CAP to make C/ Col.
Thank you for your input.

I'm not an AAP, but have lurked long enough to play the educated guess game...It seems to me, from reading other postings on similar topics, the academy would rather an applicant be super committed to an activity (and really excel at it) than to be involved in more activities, but with less of a leadership role. I think there is merit to seeing something through to the highest level possible, and doing so shows lots of admirable traits; drive, dedication, and determination to achieve are all desirable traits and are valued by the SA's regardless of which EC activity they come from. If it were my son, I'd probably tell him to finish up well with CAP, and only add CG Aux. if he had loads of free time on his hands.

Just my .02

Good luck to you! :thumb:

EA Decisions

It came in the mail on a Saturday....December 20th! White 8X10 CGA "cardbord envelope". Have your camera ready and your video camera, too. Be ready for the celebratory dancing and playing some winners music REAL loud!

That was a most glorious day for our family that Dec. 20th! It was a reward for the many long years of dreaming and the hard work our Cadet did to reach that goal and be recognized with an Appointment. Thank you USCGA! Thank you OBJEE.

Good luck to all those waiting for an EA decision.....

No bootlicking.

I'll never put down USCGA, OBJEE and the USA!

BTW, Congrats to Luigi's son who was recognized for his Football talent this fall ! Nice work:thumb: Lookin' forward to a super 1st Class year on the field next year.

If you don't receive one of the EA letters what will they send? ?a letter stating you have to wait till the next round.

From a post Objee made on another thread....

Since we have already received over 3,200 (3,378 last year) applications with almost 1,000 (768 last year) EA applicants, we requested CGHQ allow us to return/increase the class size to 290...that request was approved today. Due to the record number of EA applicants, it's very unlikely that we will be releasing any EA notifications prior to December 15th. Thanks for your patience and Happy Thanksgiving!

So, it may or may not come before Christmas....I will keep my fingers crossed that all the EA folks out there. Waiting is the pits!

Okay Gang!

Look for the OFFICIAL 2014 EA MAIL STALKERS UNITE THREAD! tomorrow. I thought December 1st would be an appropriate start to begin our countdown to possibly (hopefully ) receiving the best Christmas present ever! Chat with you tomorrow. -officer
