what are the chances of being deemed fully qualified and not receiving a nomination?

i just received a letter from Congressman Garrett (NJ-05) stating that i have not been nominated to USMA

i have not heard anything from the NJ senators yet (Menedez and Lautenberg)... but im assuming that i havent received a senator nomination since i couldnt even get a congressional one...

w/out a nomination... my apllication process for the class of '14 is pretty much over.

however... i plan on doing ROTC at Rutgers University and re-applying to USMA next year.

I was just wondering what my chances on being appointed to west point next year will be. I will post my stats just in case...

Class Rank: 19/145
GPA: 4.05 (taking APs and honors)
SAT I: M-750; CR-620; W-730 ... 2100/1370

2 Varsity Sports: 2yrs of varsity basketball; 3yrs of varsity track

Involved in Church Youth Group: praise team leader; several mission trips
DECA club: 4 yrs (3x state qualifier)
Harvester's Club (Christian club): praise team's bassist
National Honor Society
Peer Leader

What do you guys think held me back from receiving a nomination? and what do you guys recommend me to do from now 'till next year to prepare for the application process again?

I apoligize for such a long post... but this is just one way to help vent out all the stress im having right now... lol. Thank you guys in advance for your comments and advice.

Don't count yourself out for a senators nomination yet. Maybe your senator's office chose to nominate you, but hasnt notified you but has communicated this to your congressman.
There are also always superintendent and VP nominations so don't lose hope! Your stats sound great (as good as some people ive seen with LOAs) and I wish you the best of luck. Another option would be to try and get one of the civil prep scholarships as well by trying to communicate that you are VERY interested in USMA, even if it means going the next year.

Agree with BeatNavy:smile:

Why lose hope? If any of your congressmen/women have not yet replied back to you, there is still a chance that you were nominated. Your stats ARE good so don't give up!

Good luck :thumb:

yeahh. thanks guys for the encouragement

im just wondering why its taking so long for the senators to make their nominations >.o ...

all this waiting is just killing me =T.
hopefully all goes well in the end

okay... so its pretty much official...
no nomination for the class of '14...

my emotions are going crazy... but i know i need to move forward...

what are the chances to get a superintendent nomination? not that im expecting to receive one.

what should i do to prepare for my re-application process..?
does my class of '14 file close and i have to open a new one for the class of '15? or does my file just update by itself...?

IDK if this helps, but I'm from NJ as well, and I heard back from Senator Lautenberg yesterday.

I definitely agree with the posts above, to me you sound like you have an impressive file and you could still possibly get the nomination. I received a nomination from my congressman a while ago and yesterday I received Senator Lautenberg's nomination so I would (obviously) only need one. But the reason I'm bringing it up is because this opens up the slot for someone else. (or at least that's how I understand it to work)

I don't mean to say this to get your hopes up, but keep an open mind! The point is that it's great that you're preparing your backup plan, but don't give up yet!

My liaision officer once told me that "if you want to go to West Point, you will. End of story", and what he meant by that was that no matter what year you end up graduating, you will graduate from West Point if you want it enough.

wow! i've never been so relieved!

today i got a call from senator menendez's office letting me know i have received a nomination! i thought the deadline was like 2 weeks ago... so i was very very shocked to hear about this so late

i feel so stupid worrying... but that was definitely a long and stressful wait X.X

but so worth it! haha =]

thanks for the support guys :thumb:

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

I was glad to see how positive you were about trying again when you didn't think you had it, so it has to be doubly (quadruply??) exciting now to hear! Good luck!
