I just received a letter from the Academy saying that I'm triple qualified. I live in a very competitive district so there is a good chance I may not receive a nomination.

My question is is it possible to be 3'qd and still get an appointment to NAPS or a foundation program?

It is extremely unlikely to be 3Q'ed and be offered NAPS/Foundation. Those institutions exist to provide additional academic prep to those who need it. As a general rule, if you are scholastically qualified, your academics are fine for a direct appointment and thus you don't need additional prep.

you sound a lot like me a year ago. I was triple qualified and received a nom in a competitive district (but it wasn't the number 1 slot), was waitlisted, and eventually rejected. I now go to Northwestern Preparatory School which is a foundation school. I was overqualified to receive a foundation scholarship, so I'm paying my way through this place, but I know that going here will help me out a lot in my application for c/o 2015. if you find yourself eventually rejected and without an offer from NAPS or for a foundation scholarship, strongly consider this place because they'll get you in if you're willing to put in the work. nwprep.org, check it out.

Could you explain to me how this Prep school works? What are your chances of receiving an appointment?
