when do 3yr AD scholarship winners do their DoDMEDB physical?
My son won a scholarship on the second board.
He has accepted the scholarship and that is reflected on his portal
I know he has to be medically quailfied when he contracts.
Just not sure when he does the physical.

Assume he is AROTC, 3 year AD awardee as High School senior? He should be getting DODMERB paperwork in mail soon. If under 18 parent/guardian will have to go and sign with him. 2 part, set up eye exam and physical. Get all medical together so the questionnaire can be filled out properly. Passing medical qualifications is required before AROTC scholarship is approved, even though not contract until day 1 of sophomore year. Lot of DODMERB information on the forum, and the helpline at DODMERB is useful. ROOS will tell you 3 year AD are expected to act like 4 year. Congratulations.
 
If your son received a scholarship from the 2nd board, you should call Cadet Command ASAP. Paperwork was sent out nearly 3 weeks ago, and the deadline to send your acceptance of the scholarship is in a week.
 
He accepted, portal reflects that but no word on DoDMEDB yet.
 
I looked at the paperwork again and saw two things;
  • There is a number to call if you do not hear from DoDMEDB within 90 days.
  • Also appointments must scheduled before July 1st.
Have any 2nd board winners been notified by DoDMEDB?
Can my son call the DoDMEDB 800 number to initiate the process?
 
I would venture to say most who received 2nd board scholarships have already completed their exams and are only waiting for DoDMerb review and status change at this point. DS received his medical instructions within 8 days of being awarded the scholarship. I would be making phone calls at this point.

He emailed acceptance Feb 24th, received his packet March 5th.
 
I am already completing all of my medical evaluations through DodMerb and I received an offer from the second board. You should definitely start making calls at this point.
 
Update for anyone interested. Some may have the same situation.
My son had previously been sent a package back in October related to his WP application.
He decided to close his WP file. He called his ROTC contacts to ask if he should take the exams.
At that time he was advised that if he won a scholarship other exams would be requested via Concorde.
He won on the AROTC second board but has received no new package.
Called Concorde and they told him that they reactivated his account but did not send a new package because "it would say all the same stuff".
Luckily we kept the original paperwork and have made the appointments.
