Hello, this has probably been asked before, but I just can’t find the direct answers to these questions.

I am an incoming freshmen cadet at a pretty large school. I won an army rotc, four year national scholarship. I am dodmerb qualified, and I have already passed my ccfa at my schools orientation. I am wondering when I will contract, will it be the first day I arrive to campus for “rotc orientation”? Secondly I will only begin to receive benefits (tuition & stipend) after I contract, is that correct?

Ask the ROO for your school, but they are most likely looking to contract you the first week of school in order to get your benefits started. You can't contract until the semester officially begins according to the school's academic calendar. Yes your benefits won't start until after you contract date.

My DD told me that her ROO said that she had to pass the physical test once arriving on campus, to contract this fall. Is this different than the physical fitness test she did to apply to ROTC scholarship? I have been looking around the forum but the terms seem muddled and the test may (or may not) have recently changed)? Any link or guidance is greatly appreciated! thanks

I think the ACFT is still in limbo. My guess is that the 1-1-1 APFT will be used to contract and then the ACFT post contracting. @MohawkArmyROTC / @Montana State Army ROTC will be able to provide current plans for the fall.

I was told that I'd have to do the same test as I did during the scholarship process. 1-1-1 but the expectations are high.

I think the final “contracting” fitness test is the cadet command fitness test, which is the 1-1-1 as referred too before. My university had orientation in late June where we took this fitness test. I believe it is the last fitness test I will have to take before officially contracting according to EWU website (not my U but a good U.) So if DD is yet to take CCFA in person with ROTC unit, I will think it is still a requirement. https://inside.ewu.edu/rotc/new-cad...-students-looking-to-contract-into-army-rotc/

Yes, the CCFA (1-1-1) is the current fitness test used to contract cadets until an official test of record is approved and can be used by the Army.

Okay, so my DD asked her Scholarship coordinator at the AROTC battalion, and he said it will be 2 minutes for pushups, 2 minutes for situps, and a timed 2-mile run. The Army standards by age will be used.

The APFT, interesting...well, good luck!

I think programs are going to be all over the place. We are using ACFT for students already the program and 1-1-1 for incoming freshmen. Is it supposed to be 1-1-1 for everyone? Yes. But the great thing about being a PMS- a very wide latitude on what your boss allows!

Technically, the OPAT is the only test of record for the Army at the moment. So a cadet will need to pass that to commission. and MS3s need to pass it at Advanced Camp. Cadets need to pass the CCFA (1-1-1) in order to contract. Some programs may still be doing APFTs or ACFTs, but they can only be used as diagnostics and they can not be used for record, contracting, or commissioning. APFTs should not be used at all, however I think it is prudent to train on the ACFT as the Army's goal is to have that be the test of record starting in FY23, and many current cadets will still be in the program then. However, all of this is subject to change.
