I applied to USNA last year but wasn't accepted. I am attending a 4 year university this year and taking:

Calculus
Chemistry
Naval Science
English
and Italian

Is it true that my application can't be looked at until my first semester grades are in?

Does this mean I can wait to complete my CFA until around November? instead of now?

Thank you

Yes, the college applicants are not looked at until the first semester grades are in.(January?) You can wait to do your CFA til November or you can do them earlier (and if you don't like the results you can redo them) My DS did a CFA once a month last year while away at college (Schreiner University/ Greystone Prep). The kids just had their scores resubmitted. if they improved, which a lot of them did. You're on the right path by attending college and taking the courses that USNA recommends.

Agree with the above poster. It is critical that you do well in calc and chem (and English, to a lesser extent). As are great. Bs . . . maybe ok. Cs are death to your chances. Just being honest.

Study hard! Your ECAs, sports activities, leadership, etc. as a freshman aren't that important, assuming they were ok in h.s., Hopefully, you've checked with your RD on this point. If you prove to USNA you can get As in college level plebe courses, USNA has much more confidence you can succeed academically at least at USNA.

So being involved with Eca's in college isn't as important as getting A's and B's in my classes?

Also is it possible to interview with a BGO at the location of my college (WI) than my home state (HI) ?

Thank you for all of your help!

I know my DS, whose home state is CA but attended college in TX, was able to be interviewed by the equivalent of the BGO for USMA and USAFA in TX. It was arranged for my DS by the respective academies once they called for him here in CA and discovered he was now in TX. You're going to need to inquire to USNA to find out how they handle this situation. Also, your grades are really, really important but it shows USNA that you can handle the very busy schedule that is part of every midshipmen's life, by including some ECA's in your college life right now, too. If you can earn mostly A's and participate in sports (even intramurals) and do some volunteering it also shows USNA that you have implemented good time management skills (which are essential to the life of a plebe.)
