“We have awoken a sleeping giant.” -Admiral Yamamoto The admiral sat in silent depression after the cowardly attack on Pearl Harbor on a quite Sunday morning. He was right of course as the US rose from the devastation and helped save the free world. When I was stationed at Pearl, on 7 December the missile ships put a bird on the rail pointed toward Kolekole Pass, the place from where the Japanese planes emerged.

Saw an interview with a Pearl Harbor vet last night. He hates the Japanese to this day. My previous father-in-law was the same way. He flew the last plane off the Wasp before she sunk and then flew out of Henderson field for some months. I didn't dare buy a Japanese car until after he passed. Remembering them all today.
