I see on the USMA thread that 7th Semester Transcripts are supposed to be sent in. Does anyone know if the same requirement is true for USNA. We didn't see anything like that in the Appointment packet. My son can send a message to his RD to check, just thought I'd see if anyone on the forum knew.

I know I read somewhere that the 7th semester transcript is required, but I think that was for USMA, as people are now receiving emails requesting it. I do not think that USNA asks for it anywhere, but we went ahead and sent it in anyway, especially as it may be in the fine print of instructions somewhere, as USMA's is.

The USNA Certificate of Acceptance/Declination does state that:
"I understand that this appointment may be withdrawn because of failure to maintain satisfactory academic, moral or conduct standards, or because of a change in my medical status."

I guess your transcript is the only way for the academy to measure if your academics are remaining satisfactory?

I long have strongly recommended that candidates continue to update their files until they are told to do otherwise. Keep in mind that all Admissions knows about any candidate is what is in the file. It is to the candidate's advantage to keep that file updated with newest grades and any awards, recognitions, or other accomplishments that may accrue to him/her.

Transcripts

Folks:

I was doing my daily cruise through BGIS, looking to see any status changes for my candidates, and I noticed that the dates for transcripts were all 01 Feb or 02 Feb 2010.

I am pretty sure USNA goes directly to the high school to request transcripts in February. I recall it happening when my two sons applied as well.

1964BGO's advice is still valid, though. If you've had any significant positive changes to your record, i.e. captaincies of teams, awards or honors, etc., make sure you let USNA know until they tell you to do otherwise.

The admissions office requested my son's fall transcripts in January, presumably because he is a home-school student, and they wanted to evaluate the grades from his two dual-credit classes. He also sent in his mid-term grades for this semester because he is taking calc and physics at our local college and earning a 98 and 99 respectively. I figure it can only help. Also, they updated his CIS page to reflect the receipt of those mid-term grades. (HS transcript received: 03Mar10)

My CIS profile says that my transcripts were updated this Tuesday (10 March)... but I didn't send in new transcripts, and neither did my high school. The last time I sent in transcripts (in December), they were updated two weeks later. I don't know if it is worth asking the admissions office/BGO or not...?

My son's CIS profile shows that they received a transcript in February. We didn't request that our high school send one then, so I'm assuming that the Academy contacted the school and asked for one. The only transcript we sent was back before Christmas.

Same thing here, just checked son's profile and transcripts received 3/2/10. We didn't ask them to be sent.

To the candidates who stated that their transcripts were received by USNA even though they themselves never sent in their 7th semester transcripts - Did you already accept your appointment or not?

My son doesn't have an appointment; only a nomination at this point.

I emailed my son's guidance counselor. She checked their records and said that the Academy contacted them and asked for updated grades in early February.
