So If the offer of appointment can come before you have to send in your 8th semester transcript, why is it required at all?

The short answer... because they told you to (I hate to say that, but its USMA, there will be a lot of things you do because you are told to without what seems like a logical reason).

They tell you to show proof that you graduated. I think every school I was accepted to required final transcripts be sent and they all made their decisions of my acceptance well before 8th semester transcripts were available.

Also it's possible, like all colleges, an offer of acceptance, or appointment in this case, can be withdrawn if 8th semester goes sour. Not the time to slack off.

Yeah I guess it could go sour. I just figured the completion of high school thing would be verified a different way, but good reason when you think about it. Jw.

Conditional...

Any “offer of appointment” is “conditional”. If you don’t maintain your grades, commit a crime, injury, honesty, underage drinking, just to name a few, can lead to a withdrawal of your appointment.

How bad do your grades have to drop to get serious consideration for a withdrawal of the offer?!

How far?....

Its subjective....however, if you have a candidate who let his guard down and slipped compared to a candidate who improved....thats a no brainer. There is always someone standing in line to take your place.

I only ask because I am worried about getting a b in a couple AP classes this semester... think that will matter that much? Right now I have a 4.0 GPA, and around 4.3 WGPA. I haven't made a B yet.

Grade

I'm sure you will be fine. I think it's more for those people who "stack arms" and get Ds or deviate grossly from their Norm.

I'd be willing to bet that's not the kind of slide they'd be worried about...

I emailed my friend (the guy that used to be on the board of admissions and a USMA grad), and he said this: "Don't get all D's and you won't have any issues. They just check to insure no one is a slacker as they approach the finish line. A couple of B's or even a C won't get an offer withdrawn. A DUI/DWI or a drug charge is more the reason they state they have the option to withdraw an offer."
