A Day in the Life

For those of you trying to decide on your USMMA offer and for all others who may be interested, here is a taste of what life is like at the academy during COVID restrictions. No need to download the app. If you click on "Continue to website" the video should display.

I was scared to watch this but then it made me happy and now I’m wondering if there’s something wrong with me that watching lockdown life at a service academy made me happy... Either way, it’s been sent to DH and DS! Thank you!

Thank u for posting that. I showed it to my DS and he was all smiles

Is there any way to predict the likelihood that Superintendent Buono will stay another four years? I really like him. Did you all see that great plank challenge video lol?

I haven't seen him and I like him as well but I will tell u there are many current and alumni that don't. He doesn't seem like the type to worry about that stuff but I hope he stays.

@cmakin, the barracks rooms sure looked a heck of a lot nicer than they did when my kid was there..

Hmm. . . a bit different. In my day, the rooms had carpet. Blue, as I recall. There were two desks, side by side, in the pocket where the bunk beds are, and the steel framed bunk bed was in the middle of the room. Radiator looks to be the same. Of course no personal computers back then, let alone laptops. I see a window fan, so I am guessing this was back before the AC was installed. Summers were brutal back then.

I'm surprised to hear you say that. I can count on one hand the number of alums I've ever heard say a negative thing about him. The people who I've worked with that knew him professionally prior to taking the Superintendent role say great things. The currently enrolled's opinion doesn't mean that much to me because they can't see the forest though the trees yet. COVID probably makes that worse. I'm also not sure the youngest alums understand the contentiousness that existed between the alumni and staff under previous Superintendents. He seems to have eliminated that. I support him 100%

As do I. I'm merely stating what I read on a Facebook post which I believe in fact he addressed. I am not saying ALL alums or current mids dislike him, but yes I have read a few negative comments. I don't know the man from Adam and replied to the post with what knowledge I do have.

I can see where your "I'm surprised to hear you say that" comes from. I retrack my statement using the word "MANY", my apologies. There were several but the term many should not have been used. It has mainly been over the Covid issues and how the school was locked down and the measures taken so I took it with a grain of salt but I should have chosen my words a little better. Hope that clears things up.

No worries. You are correct though that is was “many” that caught my eye.
