A few Benefits of the CSPI program

1. STEM degrees would be preferred obviously. But not required. You best have at least a 3.0 GPA for the first two years if not higher.

Do remember the USCG does not have their own medical personnel. They get their medical support from the Public Health Service. If your major is in the medical field, there won't be a CG job for you. Example, Nursing.

2. If you are selected in Feb or Mar and wish to serve, you must enlist for active duty and attend Boot Camp at Cape May, NJ in June & July only.

Once completing Boot Camp, you return to college full time in finishing your degree on ACTIVE DUTY status. Your active duty pay includes all allowances, BAH & BAS up to 2 full years. Upon graduating from college, on to CG OCS for 17 weeks held at USCGA, New London Ct. The longest OCS/OTS program of any military service.

E-3 monthly salary in attending UC Berkeley is $5,090.

If you do the 2 year CSPI program, you would be eligible for retirement approximately 2 years earlier than if you graduated from USCGA or any other service academy. Plus your commitment is only 3 years after OCS not 5 years for the service academies.

The CG will have work for you during the summer months. The summers are not there for your enjoyment. You are an active duty CG member.

And yes, all tuition, books and fees are paid. Does not include living arrangements on campus, sorry.
