On the USNA Facebook Admissions page this week, here is a reply from Admissions to a question regarding 3Q letters...

"Good morning! We do not send letters notifying candidates of their board status. I believe West Point does that though. After candidates go through the board, we still have to sort out the nominations. Once that is done, we can begin notifying candidates of their status. Candidates will begin receiving notifications in March, with all candidates being notified of their status by April 15. The process isn't different for enlisted candidates. You are no nuisance at all, that is what we are here for!"

Thanks

Thank you for posting this information. I would assume that the people announcing their appointments on the other thread are folks who have a LOA and nomination, or are 3q with a principal nomination, correct? These would seem to be the only people who could know their status at this point and everyone else is in the March timeframe you mentioned, correct?

That would be my assumption. Of my candidates, the only ones who have been offered appointments fall into one of the above categories.

It is possible that a very highly qualified candidates who don't fall into those buckets might have received an appointment, but it would be a significant minority.

This is what I was hoping when I read it on Facebook as well. I thought I would repost here as I'm sure others waiting might get a little discouraged seeing postings of appointments. It seems that there have been a small percentage of appointments knowing there are thousands of candidates. My DS still doesn't even show that he has a nomination in CIS. :frown:

Where on Facebook did you see this? Do they a certain admissions page or was this just on the United States Naval Academy Page? Thanks!

There is a "Naval Academy Admissions" page on Facebook. I have never posted but from visiting the page it looks like they are great about responding.

The official USNA sites has had a similar post in the section about the application process. I believe the goal each year is to inform everyone of their application status by April 15, that is no different this year.

Ha, this was the response to one of my questions, I'm basically famous now.
