You appear to have a strong application. Raise your ACT scores to increase your chances, and as always school choice makes a difference Duke vs. SUNY Albany (don't flame I'm from NY) makes a difference.

With the exception of the ACT scores I would say you look like a good candidate. If you can improve those scores it will improve your chances. Try taking the SAT as well. Some folks do better on one over the other. You might find you're better at the SAT.

I agree with the above posters. AROTC super scores, so keep taking the tests. I know for our IS flagship schools you would want to be close to 29-30 to feel comfortable because 28 is the avg.

I would also sit down with the folks and discuss how you will pay for college without the scholarship.
~ There has never been a 100% of recipients commission four years later....what if you decide you don't like it in college? Can you afford to stay without the scholarship?
~ What if they give it to your number two school, but not Oklahoma, will you have to go to numbers two?

Thank you for the feedback! I've studied my butt off for the ACT the past 2 months, so hopefully the 8th times a charm for me!

Good Candidate

From what I can see, you are a strong candidate. Good job on the ACT!

Much more info out there on your chances than I can provide here.

Good luck to you.

SpecialK, what is your major going to be? Going STEM may improve your chances. Overall your chances are competitive from what we have seen in the past. Best of luck.:thumb:

Thank you! and @sheriff3 I plan on some type of engineering, either civil or mechanical.

+ 1 to LTC Kirkland. I think many on this forum over weight expectation of ACT scores and the necessity to > 30.

I think it is a positive feedback loop that is causing it. The majority of candidates that we see are the 'studs' that come and ask us 'Am I strong like bull?' (grunt flex grunt)

Thus our sample of candidate is skewed towards the 2nd deviation to the right

So when a 'Mortal' candidate dares poke their head in on this forum and asks "Have I got a chance?" They, in my opinion, get more pushback than may be merited.

Maybe we have become standardized test-snobs? :shake:

SpecialK … my other suggestion is to go to your Library or browse online bookstores like Amazon or B&N and see what ACT books have highest ratings. I have tried posting links to books before only to be shot down

BUT there are some excellent tomes out there on improving on the ACT as well as on maximizing your chances of success on ROTC application from people who have been involved in the process.

PM me and I'd be happy to send you (or any future readers of this post) my recommended reading list

Ok thank you! I won't hesitate to ask.
