I am so sorry to hear this. Support each other as you grieve. I know it is particularly heartbreaking for the Class of 2023 as they prepare to celebrate their USAFA journey ending.

Fair winds and following seas to the cadet, and hope for his family and friends to come together in remembrance in a healing way.

Oh no 🥹. Heartbreaking. I’m so very sorry. Prayers for this young man and his family, friends and classmates.

Here's a toast....

Prayers for squad and his family, heartbreaking to loss such young souls!

Everyone,

This is an example of what we don't want done on the forums prematurely.

When the cadet wing is notified of a tragedy like this, either officially or by "cadet rumor/knowledge" it's not something for general distribution until HQ USAFA releases the information officially. The original post was "quarantined" until the information became official.

Sadly, that has now occurred.

I have posted Lieutenant General Clark's comments below.

Loss in the Cadet Wing:

It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the loss of a cadet yesterday. C1C Cole Kilty (Cadet Squadron 22), was found deceased in his vehicle off base. We are engaged with Cole’s roommate to ensure he is cared for, and the entire cadet wing was notified early this morning when next of kin notifications were complete. All of our helping agencies are working to support the cadets, faculty, and staff during this difficult time. Cole’s father has been informed and we are holding public release of this information until 24 hours after next of kin notifications.

Cole was known for being a friend to others, for his jokes, and his unique ability to find humor in any situation. He will be greatly missed.

A toast to you Cole!! ❤️🙏🏽

My thoughts are with his family, friends, his fellow airmen, and those who taught and mentored him.
