Able to write about in my Essays??

Hello, I'd like some guidance on essays.... here is a little background info.

For my extracurriculars, I hold a part time job at a 5-star hotel, one of the best in my state, as a Valet. I'm only 17 years old and they rarely hire anyone under the age of 19. The manager told me that based on my great qualities they saw something in me. I'd like to know if there's a place to write about being hired as one of the youngest Valet's in this hotel's history, in an essay.

One more question. On a weekly bases I mentor a young gentleman with severe autism. I hang out with him, play games, and most importantly, my job is to help him with his social and communication skills. Like stated above, I'm curious to know if I can further explain this in an essay. Thanks

There are always ways to add accomplishments within your responses. It is just a question whether that is what is best, given the parameters of the questions and the limitations given by the Academy. Those essay responses are full of judgement calls. If there are five things you would really like to say, but only room for three to be well presented, you need to make a call as to what you think is best. Honestly, you can't really start putting a response together until you see the questions. You will work it out.

I'll bet you've got some great stories from the hotel but keep it clean. You might consider writing about some 'learning experience' where you made a mistake, corrected the mistake and what you learned. The situation with the young autistic gentleman (YAG) is filled with possibilities; such as the deep learning for you and the YAG as you work together, how you learn as he learns, how you grow in social skills as he grows, etc. You might start writing the essay as if you were writing a letter to a friend, "This Summer I had the greatest job working with Joe...". Make it a story from the heart not a boring essay. IMHO
