The Academy Insider has been a great source of info for a lot of us over the last few years. Today I noticed the site has been removed, as well as the facebook group, etc. Does anyone know what happened? In the past, Grant's dad took over for him when he was in training, etc so it's kinda weird that it's just gone.

Purely speculation but I've seen several social media accounts with large numbers of followers make posts about being inundated with extremely hateful messages and emails demanding that they use their influence to come out and make a statement regarding the issues our nation is facing; as well as relentlessly badgering them and their family if an account holder chooses to stay silent. A local, family owned sno cone stand in our small town was treated horribly when they said they felt their 10K followers followed them for sno cone specials and giveaways and not their personal views. It got nasty. Not saying this is what is up with Grant deciding to shut everything down for a time but it wouldn't surprise me.

Oh, I didn't think about that! You may be right, there has been a lot of hate online, and when individuals don't give in to the demands of the mob all hell breaks loose! I hope he brings it back when things settle down, guess we'll have to wait and see if that's what happened.

That would be awful. I have come to rely on his blog for information on the traditions I knew nothing about while my DS begins the applications process for 2025. This forum helps, but Grant does a great job with so many topics that I haven’t found anything about on here.

I have really enjoyed the blog My Kid the Mid, have you read any of that? Great insight as well for this 2024 mom.

Grant's view is fm a first person perspective. If HE writes a book, any success is earned, the parents who write books based on their kid's experiences however, I'm not such a fan of. As a parent, I will always offer advice if asked for it....for free. You will not have to purchase my advice. Also, all of the advice in the parent books are available on the fb pages, or can be asked for on those pages. This is purely a personal opinion of course, there are plenty of people who just want to read anything they can get their hands on (USNA is daunting for everyone!) and I understand that. I just think the same info can be found either on these forums or on fb pages :)
Anyway, my point is, I don't think any of the others can come close to the level and quality of info Grant has provided! He was my son's 2nd set (I think it was 2nd) Reg Comm for Plebe summer in 2016 and he did a great job by ALL accounts.

Grant provided a code through his Academy Insider Facebook page that was free to all incoming class of 2024. Due to the site being down DS is not able to access it though, but it was offered for free.

I think the interesting wonderment, is that it is unlike him to just check out. He for certain has a fan club! And in the past, when he has left, he has let his fans know he was leaving and others have run his forums.

He is still tweeting, as himself, so he is ok. It’s his Insider stuff that’s been taken down. Perhaps there was a cease and desist order or something. Perhaps there are legal things being worked out. I have no idea. But I believe he is ok, and if he was allowed to speak to his fans, he would. Because that’s the kind of person he is.

Can you reply to this with the code/site for the C/O 2024? Thanks!

I'll send it to you in a private message as it was on a private FB group "USNA 2024 Parents". To join the group you have to prove your kid is an actual appointee of the class of 2024.

Any other ideas what has happened, my daughter has been listening to his podcasts and finds them great!

We did found his videos and interviews very insightful. My wild guess is that since he was promoting/had links to buy stuff (memorabilia, gear etc etc), it didn't go well with the command. I am sure his intention was not to make profit and just be a source of information, but in today's media frenzy/entitlement culture, it's not the intention but the perception that counts.

Just my 1 cent..

I actually reached out to him bc my daughter loves his podcasts and listened to them all the time - he told me he was working through some things so in the meantime there were not be any access to his site etc. he is such a great guy and my daughter loves all of his stuff! she had read all of it and wanted to follow along this summer with all of his plebe posts he always does - I told him we were waiting for him to return asap!!!!

Definitely could be trying to keep a lower profile. The other thing that popped in my head was there is strict use of using USMC and Navy (and probably USNA) logos. If he was using those on his sites and social media (especially since it appeared he was marketing items and assuming a profit) he has to have approval first. Could be 100% wrong, purely speculative on my part.

Purely speculative, but he was headed to the Intel community was he not? Perhaps he desired to reduce his personal online footprint out of OpSec concerns.
Good thought. All of the sponsor alumni from our family who are active in the ABC agencies have zero social media presence.
