My DD has been waxing for five years and worried that she'll have to start shaving. What are the options for her? Do they do waxing on base?
Should she let it grow until Indoc is over? Do they have to shave their legs?

Assuming this post is not by a troll.. During INDOC, no one has time for personal hygiene except maybe 30 seconds per day for showering and another 30 seconds to brush your teeth. After INDOC, no one cares whether or how you remove your body hair. Lots more important things to worry about.

@ValiantBlitz, use the search function above, using terms like “female plebe.” There are several good posts here — mostly in USMA and USNA forums — regarding the needs of women (ahem, ladies). The topic has been pretty well covered and I’m guessing you’ll find some good insights by digging deeper into this forum. My DD found it all very helpful.

Can’t speak to USMMA specifically but am a female. I am guessing Plebe Summer is more similar than different between the SAs. Time is very limited especially after things like PT when multiple people are getting ready. Usually enough to rinse, wash, rinse, next! Sunday’s are usually a little slower with chapel services and many ladies often shaved then. Many ladies didn’t shave all summer, maybe their arm pits. No one was paying attention. As to academic year and access to getting off base for waxing will leave that to a USMMA Mid.

30 seconds to shower !?!?!? ... man these kids are coddled these days.

Assuming they haven't remodeled the showers, in my day the showers were just a tile room with six shower heads. No dividers or curtains or anything. During indoc you walked in, stripped down, walked around the room getting sprayed by each shower head (5-10seconds max) and then grabbed your towel and robe on the way out. You tried your best to wash on one side of the room and rinse on the other.

I think it's pretty much the same today. My son joked that they didn't have enough time to completely clean themselves so he took turns cleaning different body parts LOL

Oh yes its still the exact same

@ValiantBlitz, as you can see here, the only people who care about hairy armpits during that first summer are...nobody. If your DD has time or energy to worry about what others think, she’s got her head in the wrong place. She’ll encounter worse personal issues over the next several years.

I should've been more specific with my question since she's worried about after Indoc, and how she'll stick with her routine. She knows that Indoc is all about surviving and learning and I've helped her make that clear.
Thank you for all your responses they've been very informative and helpful!

@ValiantBlitz, let me put you a bit more at ease. My DD midshipman has had time to get a massage, get a mani/pedi, get her jewelry cleaned. Granted, being in the heart of Annapolis makes this sort of thing a bit easier. But it is possible — if seldomly done — for the ladies (and the gents, for that matter) to pamper themselves. Or to take care of, ahem, other things.
