Academy Visit Question

Last year when my son (now a Plebe) received his appointment in March (he finished his application in Februaray), we arranged for a candidate visit ... and his dad went with him ... which was a fantastic experience for them both. We luckily have family in the area, so they arrived a day early, then our son stayed at the Academy, and his dad was treated to loads of seminars, in-depth tours and general overall Academy info. They both learned so much ... I highly recommend going as a parent ... you stay in the background, the candidate stays in Bancroft Hall ... you both have a really strong experience

How does one sign up to be with a Plebe they know? Is it up to person attending or the Plebe?

There are absolutely no guarantees, but you can always email your Regional Director and make the request.

IMHO it is sometimes best to be with someone who you aren't friends with to have an unbiased experience.

Thanks for all the help. The "new guy" doesn't know my son but he knows me and I think it would be a good match.

I second the recommendation for parent(s) to attend if possible. There will be tours Friday as well as the information session on Thursday evening. I would really try to go, especially if the parent has not been to USNA before. You can get reasonable hotel accomodations through sites like hotwire.com, etc. Many of the hotels are within walking distance.
