My daughter received a Type 2 AFROTC scholarship in the first board last fall, but had not accepted it right away as we were doing DODMERB. DODMERB has come back and disqualified her. Does she accept the Type 2 with hopes that a waiver will come through. She has sent in back-up and more backup to help with her disqualification, but not a good feeling that it will go through. Or at what point should she say, it's done and move onto something else. She has been accepted to all her school choices and two of those schools are out-of-state - Purdue and Iowa State.

@katneb She should accept the AFROTC scholarship since waivers are granted by the commissioning authority. So USAFA might reach a different decision on a waiver than AFROTC. She should move on plan B when she (and you?) are comfortable doing so. There is no problem with doing both in parallel. If the plan B school is different than the #1 AFROTC choice then you either pick one or proceed with both and make a final decision later. Of course you might lose your deposit at one of them. Naturally, there is some point, on or between May 1 and the first day of classes, where you have to fish or cut bait and commit to plan B.

EDIT: That's assuming she is still eligible for the AFROTC scholarship. I do not know what AFROTC deadlines are for scholarship acceptance.
