Accept AFROTC while waiting for Academies??

My DD has been awarded the AFROTC Type 1. Should she go ahead and accept it, even though she’s waiting to hear from USAFA and USMA?

Absolutely accept the scholarship. There is no down side. If she decides to accept an appointment to an Academy she can inform AFROTC she will not be using the scholarship, but don't do that until she reports to the academy. It might even happen automagically.

Thanks! I went back and found an old thread that answered this as well. The problem is, she’s only been accepted to Embry-Riddle and is still waiting for two other schools. She can’t accept until she commits to a school it looks like. The wait continues...

I'm not certain that's true of an AFROTC scholarship since one can take that to any college. I'm not sure any school you specify in the acceptance (if you do) implies an absolute commitment to that school. They know kids haven't hear about acceptances yet. I would do whatever you could to confirm this though before making decisions based on it. Nothing wrong with waiting a couple weeks either if that make the two of you feel better about it. The key is to accept before any deadline.

Once she clicked ACCEPT, on the next page it wanted a school, major and an upload of her acceptance letter before she could move on.

DS uploaded his acceptance to his school when he accepted the scholarship. He did accept it and also USAFA, but waiting on one more reply before a definite decision.
