Acceptance

The mods do an amazing job keeping things on this forum on an even keel. Even so, everyone here who participates needs to expect that not all posts are going to be our liking. We live in a country of free speech.....short of yelling "movie" in a crowded firehouse. I see nothing wrong with JShawshank's post, as it was not incendiary in any way. If one disagrees with the post, that is fine. Post and disagree away with civility (which was done by several posters initially).

No one is forcing anyone to read anything here. I for one, appreciate the large variety of points of view and levels of experience that the SA forum attracts. Let's be more tolerant before we scream for mod censorship. Things here seem to regulate themselves pretty well and mods only need to intervene occasionally.

We are all here to help gain info and support our DS/DD's to serve their country so we can have the freedom to participate in forums like this one.

Sir, I would highly recommend that if you are curious about the number it may be wise to just think about it to yourself. YES!! I Am sure it is causing STRESS for the kids as well as their parents. But I am guessing you already have a child at the academy. So I would ask you to just have the courtesy and think before you write something that could be considered hurtful or stressful to there. I am sure you are just trying to help, but in this case I thin more harm that good has come from your post and would ask there moderator to shut down this thread before it becomes a problem.

Best of luck to all of the future leaders of our great nation!

There is really no need to shut the thread down since there really is no problem. JShawshank is merely trying to apply some statistics. Is that really causing STRESS for anyone? And if someone postulating on statistics on a forum causes you or a candidate stress, how will it be when they are on a submarine for 6 months or as a parent you know that their unit has been deployed to a hotspot?

I am not trying to be flippant about this since I know the waiting is not easy, but as someone who is way ahead in the timeline I can tell you that the wait for an appointment is nothing compared to what will come. Parents better get used to that idea and develop a system to deal with it.

Just what exactly was JShawshank trying to say with their original post?
Maybe they should have just said... have patience everyone is supposed to know by April 15th.
No instead they injected their subjective opinion on how many places are left without any information to base it upon except just pure speculation.
But oh well I suspect you and all of the others on this board must be much better at this than any of us who are new.
I thought this board was to help support and answer questions not what it has become.I will now sign off as my kids has an appointment and will be ok. I wish Kurt, Hopeful and Zachary the best of luck.

Does it really matter if he is off? I think what he was trying to say is that there are plenty of spots left. Whether that is 400 or 800 doesn't really matter, especially since we don't know how many appointments are in the mail etc. There was also a thread earlier about the SLIGHTLY smaller class sizes. Does it really matter if there are 1197 instead of 1208, or 1220?

Wow, quite the discussion I seem to have stirred up. Reflecting back, my first post was in response to the OP's question about acceptances and a follow-up response that showed the current appointment list of 54. I was (maybe not artfully) trying to shed some light on the fact that the 54 appointments on this site is misleading at best based on postings from the last several classes. Perhaps a different choice of language in my earlier posts may have helped - again, no stress intended.

Thanks to the mods and others for ironing out the wrinkles.
