Today I received news that I was accepted to Marion Military Institute, which I am very grateful for. I've searched youtube and MMI's website but have found little in the way of describing the daily life/schedule of cadets. I noticed that they do some type of basic training the first 3 weeks. What does this entail? Do I need to buy anything in advance? (Boots, low-quarters, etc.)

In addition, what would the daily schedule look like for an MMI cadet?

Your uniforms are provided and paid for in your fees. This includes boots. You will need to provide your own running shoes. There will also be a list of items you should bring and things you shouldn't bring. This is not typical college where you can decorate your room. It is intentionally spartan to replicate a military decorum and lifestyle. Time to get used to it!

Congrats to you! My son is currently at MMI and has had a great experience there! If you want to connect with him feel free to pm me. A wonderful mom advised us to bring the following : lightweight blanket, twin fitted bed sheet and a set of bed-sheet holder straps (so you can leave your bed made at all times), a small trash can, small fan, quarters for laundry, digital watch with vibrating alarm, command strips and tacks for bulletin board. You are allowed a 4" suit bag containing some civilian clothes - jeans, shorts, khakis, couple of collared shirts. She also recommended learning to roll socks "ranger roll style" from You Tube videos. Hope this helps!

Is that for sleeping on top of the premade bed? I’ve read somewhere that the cadets make their bed and then use a light blanket to sleep on top so the bed is always made (put the blanket away for room inspections).

Yes! You can quickly pull the fitted sheet and store it away for inspections! The bed-sheet holder straps keep your blanket snug and inspection ready!
