Hello. How old can an achievement be for it to be of worth in an academy application? I am a black belt in Taekwondo, but I stopped taking classes in 6th grade. Is that too long ago to be of worth to add in my application?

USNA was 9th grade iirc.

My son included a first place international science award his class won and he was named captain for in 8th grade in his essay … it started his interest in aerospace and astronomy.

Most of the SA's only look at achievements, etc., from the first day of 9th grade and onward.

I recommend that you 'jump' back into TKD, continue to improve your skills, and offer to teach others at the club/gym where you participate. Clearly, you can then include the sport in your applications as well as discuss it in your essays and interviews. Be sure to explain the 'gap' in time along with the new involvement. Good luck with your application!
