Hey i was wondering what the average ACT scores and the Average SAT scores were entering into the Naval Academy. Also since i know the USNA does class rank rather then GPA what is the average Class rank?

The average SAT scores are in the 600's at both Math and Reading.
The avergae ACT scores are in the 26's at both Math and Reading.

Definitely concentrate on Math.

76% of the class of 2012 are in the top 20% of their high school class.

The Naval Academy DOES look at your GPA.

They do recalculate your GPA depending on the difficulty of your classes.

So USNA uses a weighted GPA? That could really help me.

Any "averages" are merely that -- and generalizations. I've had students with 1450 SATs (math & verbal) not receive an appointment and students with <1200 get in.

USNA looks at the classes you take, the grades you get, the difficulty of the school, and your class rank. How high you rank in your class is important but, if your school sends >95% of its students to four-year colleges, USNA may look at class rank a bit differently than a high school that sends <10% to college. High level math, science, English, and history is all good -- and AP is better, if you do well. Advanced language is also smiled upon. Courses such as music theory, art history, psychology, sociology and the like are fine to round out an otherwise hard core curriculum but really won't help you in terms of USNA admissions. Not saying you should never take any of these courses, just don't load up on them.

Where did you gat this information? I attended CVW with niece and they said they did not look at the overall GPA, but evaluated on the course work grade, and level of classes, but did not recalculate that information into a GPA. They also indicated that schools that do not rank typically send an estimate and profile and they are able to approximate rank - in other words nothing to worry about.
