Since we have a thread going for us hopeful juniors to compare SAT scores, why not have one to compare ACT scores on? I hope no one has already started one for this. Sorry if so!

English-32
Reading-34
Math-26
Science-25

I'm taking it again next week and the writing part for the first time. I'm hoping to improve my math and science by a few points

Composite 32
Math 31
Reading 34
English 33
Writing 32
Science 28

I'm a Class of 2014 appointee so it wouldn't seem to make much sense for me to post my scores here but maybe it might serve as reference/standard for hopefuls (and for me to brag a little ). Admissions places heavier emphasis on standardized tests+class rank more than GPA so its great to do your best to score higher.

I got an LOA very soon after I sent them into admissions (it was the last thing I needed to complete my file and I have a feeling that it may have been a big factor).

Remember, West Point superscores your ACT/SAT scores so take it as many times as you want - I took the ACT about 10 times and got great results. But of course, diligent studying is really the only way to improve them :thumb:

ACT
Composite - 31 (highest scored composite)

Superscored
English - 34
Math - 34
Reading - 34
Science - 29

SAT
Reading - 630
Math - 640
Writing - 650

I only took the SAT once in my entire life - I found the ACT much easier to take (and score reasonably better on).

Good luck!

For me, I walked into the ACT + writing, cold. I just had a good feeling about the test, and prepped for my SAT instead. (I took them both for the first time this past winter, one weekend apart from one another) And my scores were...

Composite - 31
English - 30
Math - 31
Reading - 33
Science - 28 (Which is what brought me down)
Writing - 8 (of 12, which doesn't count towards composite)

I feel so not smart now haha I forgot to put that my composite was a 29. Now I'm definitely gonna have to bring mine up haha

You still have a good score, no need to feel that way. I'm sure that you can bring your score up the next time you take it. Just prep for it a bit more than you did previously, and you should be set!

well next time i'm taking it is...next saturday! ahh!! haha I sure hope I do better. I have been studying and practicing so...

Highest composite is 34, superscore is 35. Wasn't aware that the USMA superscored ACT. Most northern schools don't superscore the ACT (some don't even accept it).

Dang! I'm like gonna cry if i don't do better this time!! you guys smoked me! although i took it as a sophomore, but still...haha

Same, I found the ACT easier than the SAT! I honestly took both tests without studying, but now I think I'll have to do some prep :thumb:

i have a 32. i have taken it twice and im done taking it. it feels sooooo good to know im done with the act!

first time i took it i forgot my calculator and got a 29 composite(28 in math). that was a stressful test!

i got a 33 in math and english and a 31 in reading and science. writing was a 9 out of 12.

i took a semester long act prep class that helped some, but it was geared more towards the people who are trying to go from a 20-24, not a 28-31+

To everyone that is worried about their scores:

Take it as maaaany times as possible. I went from a 24 to a 30 composite, a huge difference. Also I received my appointment this year if that helps anything.

Math-23 (without a calculator :/)
Science-30
English-31
Reading-33
Composite-29

I'm taking the ACT again in September or October, this time with a calculator and with the writing section!
And I'm taking the SAT on Saturday. I'm thinking that the ACT will be the easiest of the two...

Great job, folks.
Things to rememberr -
For the ACT -composite does not matter. They will only look at English, Reading and Math. Science doesn't count. Writing is required but I don't think they are considering it yet.

Take both the ACT and SAT too.
Take them again. and again. They superscore but won't mix the ACT and SAT.
There is no *penalty* for repeating the test over and over! So keep taking them until you get an LOA or Appointment right up to, including the January testing dates.

Just a small clarification. For the SA, composite scores might not matter, but you do need to score well in Math, Science, English Reading( and writing on the ACT). Other universities might or might not superscore and the composite score is important to help your application get into the "right" stack.

Also, composite scores are looked at for ROTC boards. The bottom line is do the very best that you can, study and take the tests often to achieve the best possible scores that you can.
