Does the NA only look at math and English or do they take into account science, reading, and writing too? I'm just wondering because those two are all that show up online. Does anyone know the average ACT scores of those who received appointments? I'm wondering if they are different from the AFA...

Thank you.

Yeah, they only look at Math and English scores. You can look up the average scores in the 2012 class profile, I can't remember it off the top.

Hope this helps, and good luck.

You can't really calculate the true average from the scores given for the class of 2012 with the info given. I can tell you that I personally know two Plebes that were appointed last year and their ACT scores were 27 and 34. The 27 was a male from Alabama and the 34 was a gal from Florida. They both were Varsity sports letter winners and the guy had no JROTC experience and the girl had one year of NJROTC. Neither went to NASS and they both started semi late in the application process.

What do you consider "semi-late"

Maximus,

I'm curious, what do you consider semi-late in the application process? and why do you believe both these plebes made it into the academy with such a gap in ACT scores?

Maximus and NavyMom2008, the average ACT scores are around 29. So there is an equal amount of ACT scores below 29 (hence the 27) and above 29 (hence the 34).

I am not a recruited athlete but I got an LOA to USNA in December with a 24 in math and a 24 in English...lol this is waaayy below the norm. perhaps it was my SAT score that helped? 590 math, 610 verbal. Or perhaps Admissions made a mistake haha!! good luck!
