I scored a 28 Math and 26 Reading on my ACT. Are these scores competitive for me to pass academically at the Naval Academy?

i want to say 26 is the average for english and math on the ACT. they favor a higher math score since its more of a technical school

Your competitiveness is relative and includes a bunch of stuff. If a candidate had little leadership and demonstrated long term committment to ECA's or sports, then a 28 ACT might not cut it. A 26 ACT might work for a candidate with a bunch of leadership and varsity athletics. There is simply no one indicator. A kid we know with varsity soccer, pretty good ECA's and a 32 ACT did not make USNA class of 2013. Where you live is a factor as well.

Read extensively on these forums and you will get a better idea......

Other than stating the required scores to receive an application, no one on this board is qualified to tell you that your scores are or are not competitive.

As numerous people on this board have said, do the best you can do.

Also, you don't need to have a lot of leadership activities, ECAs, or sports -- quality is more of a factor than quantity and there is not really a "sliding scale" that makes up for ACT/SAT scores and the Whole Person Concept. Stick with something that you like, try to obtain a leadership position and make a difference. Sometimes, it is unique qualities that an admissions board is looking for.

Best of luck.
