ACT scores

Ballpark 50th percentile on the SAT is 675/675 for 1350 combined …. 75th percentile is somewhere around 1400 combined …

.
If those percentile ranks are for the USNA entering class then I do not think you're far off. If you mean 50th percentile for all test takers then you are VERY far off. The last number I saw for that was approx 1050 while what the test designers WANTED was an average (50th percentile) of 1000

Yep … the numbers I listed were for NA … the other SAs are roughly the same as NA

Thank you for sharing. Ultimately, it’s the student’s risk to take. Just seems common sense to attempt all sections of the test with the best effort (understand studying/prep might focus on one area more than another).
I agree. I was just saying it seems most schools superscore now.

Looking for feedback on ACT score average for those getting into USNA. I know there are so many pieces to this process but wondering what the real average is? Does it help if you are higher in Math and Science but your English & Reading are a bit lower? Google search says 29, how many of you got higher and how many lower?
1490 SAT which is about 33-34 ACT is what got me an LOA, but always aim high. However, I would say work on your extracurriculars and leadership equally if not more than your test scores. I met a midshipman who had scored in the 1200s but had excellent leadership positions in high school, so it is hard to say what an average ACT or SAT for USNA is.

Just to address your question, DS got a 30. 30 Math, 30 Science, 33 English, 27 Reading. He was originally WAITLISTED, but did get a last minute appointment. As others have said, ACT score is just one small piece of a very complex admissions puzzle. We know of several current Mids who scored lower and were given appointments without being waitlisted so they had other important qualities USNA was looking for. DS had a roommate from a very competitive district who scored several points higher than him and finally got an USNA appointment on his third application!

Hey! I got a 29 ACT and was TW from all three service academies--but I know they look at the whole person. My academics aren't too competitive compared to everyone else's, though that's not to say they're bad either. Do you mind explaining what you think set you apart from other candidates?
My GPA was 3.96 taking classes like Calculus 1, physics, etc. basically the hardest classes I could take at my school. My biggest thing was most likely my extra curriculars. I started and led a successful community service project, a winter running club, an ACT study club, and I was the class vice president. I was also all state twice in cross country, once in track, and twice in band. There were other things too but that is a simple rundown of my application.
