Acting Secretary of the Navy steps down

Civil War historian James McPherson stepping up from Army Undersecretary to SECNAV. He only just stepped into his job with Army last month.
Less than two weeks on the job and he gets a big promotion. I'll bet he didn't even have his office set up yet. A plus !

Enlisted in the Army in 1972 (military police) and then went to college. Commissioned as an Ensign in the Navy and went on to become the Judge Advocate General of the Navy (Rear Admiral). Became acting undersecretary of the Army in December (but just sworn in as undersecretary on March 25th).
