Well, I greatly appreciate the feedback. I really want to go to KP because I am interested in ships, sailing and primarily engineering and its my dream to use the knowledge I will gain from kp in the active duty navy.
Amen to that.Just remember, what you may want now will likely change in a few years anyway. You might even come around and decide that the life of a mariner is preferable to a Navy life while at KP. One never knows and that is what makes life interesting. I know that I never even thought of the career that I am in now and have been for 15 years, yet here I am and enjoying most every minute. I mean it IS work you know.
Amen to that.
I went to KP just caring about the license and not even the degree. I almost went active duty SWO (best decision I never made) and considered USMC. I ended up sailing inland but gave it shortly thereafter. I spent the next 12 years making good use of the degree that I wasn't really interested in and now I am back to sailing having kept my license current.
Kind of hard to tell from your icon, but are you sailing for Allied Towing?
I did my two years of returning to sea penance with Dann Marine Towing and now I'm at Penn Maritime. Personally, I think it is about the best sailing job there is.
