Would it be a bad idea to tell my parents to include an extra generic note of sorts to give to another Basic? Would I have time to give it to someone without mail? Would it be better to just tell my parents to address an envelope to "Any Basic Cadet"? Or not do this at all because it might cause problems? I read about how sad it is for the Basics that don't receive mail, which is why I ask.

You will not have the freedom to deliver mail to another while in BCT unless they are in your immediate squadron/flight. That said, addressing one to any basic cadet would not be bad. I see mom's on the Facebook page talk about doing that every year.

@funnyesq has the following thread trying to enlist folks to write to basics that may not be receiving mail for one reason or another.

It's true you will not be able to pass letters other than perhaps to your squadron/flight. Although I do my best to write to "strange doolies" (hahahaha) often they are getting letters from friends and family and aren't the "lone wolf" without contact with the outside world. Perhaps this year I should reach out to USAFA leadership and find a way to seek out the "lone wolves" who aren't getting letters etc. Any suggestions on WHO to contact that could help?

When our DD was a flight commander for BCT, she knew exactly which basics were not receiving mail, since she's the one that delivered it. She reached out to us (her parents) and we subsequently reached out to other parents and began sending many letters. So, other than connecting with some of the BCT cadre and their parents groups, I'm not sure there is a single source for information on those not receiving mail. Once, they are in their doolie year, since they pick up their own mail, it would still fall on the 3C mentors and element/flight/squadron commanders to know who is or is not receiving much "love" from home.

Marie Nikovits, Parent Liaison at USAFA might be helpful.
