My son is a contracted first year AFROTC student and he suspects that he may have ADHD. I want to bring him to the doctor but am concerned that this will affect his scholarship and may result in a DQ.

In keeping with the ethics code, he will need to disclose it if he is diagnosed. He has been dreaming of going into the AF for a long time and will be heart-broken if he is removed from the program. Additionally I would hate to lose the scholarship.

Does anyone have any advice on this on this touchy subject? Many thanks!

A freshmen with ADHD? I can't help but wonder where this is coming from at this point in his life. I can only imagine the distractions since he started college and the ROTC. most students in his position may feel days where they think they also have ADHD. Not to simplify his concern. I would suggest an evaluation. Things I have read, ADHD would be an issue. So before he or anyone else gives him this label, get a professional opinion. Heck, get two. And good luck to you both!
