I got to know ADM “Midnight Mike” (late night work habits) when he was a VADM across the p’way on the E-ring in the Pentagon. He always treated me well, and when I run into him, never fails to stop and chat, despite the heights to which he has risen.

Impressive guy - saving for later.

Does he arrange his books tallest to shortest on the book shelves?

I first encountered LT Mullen when he was the Conduct Officer at USNA when I was a 2/C Mid and thankfully stayed out of his view except for Main Office Watch that I stood when he was OOD.
My first class year, LCDR Mullen was a Company Officer in the next company from mine and one of the SWOs around when I was service selecting SWO.
.
Now, fast forward 18 yrs and CDR OldRetSWO was part of a Reserve Carrier Group Staff and our boss was RADM Mullen. We joined them on deployment to the Persian Gulf during a very busy time while the ship was launching airstrikes and lots of things were happening. I reported
directly to him on occasion including some special analysis of an emerging new threat. Afterward, I continued to encounter VADM and ADM Mullen professionally through the Navy and then through my civilian career, often at events such as Surface Navy Association (SNA) and
the Sea Air Space (Navy League) Expo.

Not sure but I can tell you that he probably does based on how particular he is about stowage of his personal gear*.

* from "The Tale of the Admiral's Underwear" as remembered by his staff members but I will not go further except in person with adult beverages.
